Padawan 1.3e modification (Talchia!)

This is mostly directed to Talchia who made the Padawan Mod. (Hopefully this won't upset Talchia.) Like I mentioned in a different thread, I wanted to rework the Dialogue in Padawan 1.3e.

Finally figured out how to get NWN to be able to change the dialoge! [Yay, score one for me!] Trimmed the excess paths with some linking and redid the wording and dropped a couple of subtle hints about the future.

Also tacked in how Carth supposedly knows you (this is the soldier/scoundrel/scout that was transferred to the ship. You did just have a conversation with him/her.) ;)

It's a little unsubtle to be running around in Jedi robes, so I might try to get into the scripts and redo some things so that there is only one set of Padawan robes and regular clothes.

This is my first real bit of modding that I've ever done.

I hope it's liked and well received.

Wait, how did you get nwn to change dialog?

I copied the file into the /override folder in NWN and then created a new module. Using the new module I opened the dialogue and then edited it. I saved the dialogue and then (before *closing* the module) went to the temporary folder for the module and copied the changed dialogue file and then copied it into the KotoR /override folder.

Worked super-slick then.

Editing the .dlg files is much easyer than editing the talk table. Plus you can localize a dlg. who wants to DL a .tlk. I find useing the NWN toolset to be the best for editing dlg files the only problem is you have to switch the NWN .tlk for the KotOR tlk and so when doing that it messes up the text for the toolset. Also when you save a KotOR dlg in nwn toolset it will delete anything from the gff's it doesn't know about as in the VO's will get deleted.

The dialog.tlk is in the main Kotor folder and there is a link for a tlk editor in the tools sticky.

For now the best tool for editing game .dlg is nwtoolset(which you can only get with NWN) you can make new dialog within the gff editor fairly easily. Read the bioware dev section in paticular the Conversation Format.
