arthurh3535 Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 This is mostly directed to Talchia who made the Padawan Mod. (Hopefully this won't upset Talchia.) Like I mentioned in a different thread, I wanted to rework the Dialogue in Padawan 1.3e. Finally figured out how to get NWN to be able to change the dialoge! [Yay, score one for me!] Trimmed the excess paths with some linking and redid the wording and dropped a couple of subtle hints about the future. Also tacked in how Carth supposedly knows you (this is the soldier/scoundrel/scout that was transferred to the ship. You did just have a conversation with him/her.) It's a little unsubtle to be running around in Jedi robes, so I might try to get into the scripts and redo some things so that there is only one set of Padawan robes and regular clothes. Click Here This is my first real bit of modding that I've ever done. I hope it's liked and well received.
arthurh3535 Posted February 15, 2004 Author Posted February 15, 2004 Has anyone tried this mod out? All you have to do is place this file into your Override folder that already has the Padawan 1.3e on it. Just looking to see if I did an okay job with this. Arthur Hansen
T7nowhere Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 I just tried it much better. Nice clean up.
arthurh3535 Posted February 16, 2004 Author Posted February 16, 2004 I was wondering if anyone had looked at it. I might tweak the conversation a little more. Dictates sounds too 'educated' for the character, I think. Plus, I think one of the sentences needs to be broken up a bit. Arthur Hansen
Criminal Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 i wodent worry about it to much.....its better then waking up saying.... "what happens ?"
Criminal Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 just cleared out my override dir. and giving a bump for anyone who didnt get this...
pie_man101 Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 There is a special NWN .dlg editor made just for that. It needs the regular NWN explorer to run though. (sorry, but I forgot what site it's on)
Weiser_Cain Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 do you mean this ? I hope not that thing is written in another language...
arthurh3535 Posted March 4, 2004 Author Posted March 4, 2004 Originally posted by Weiser_Cain Wait, how did you get nwn to change dialog? I copied the file into the /override folder in NWN and then created a new module. Using the new module I opened the dialogue and then edited it. I saved the dialogue and then (before *closing* the module) went to the temporary folder for the module and copied the changed dialogue file and then copied it into the KotoR /override folder. Worked super-slick then.

Plus you can localize a dlg. who wants to DL a .tlk. I find useing the NWN toolset to be the best for editing dlg files the only problem is you have to switch the NWN .tlk for the KotOR tlk and so when doing that it messes up the text for the toolset. Also when you save a KotOR dlg in nwn toolset it will delete anything from the gff's it doesn't know about as in the VO's will get deleted.
Weiser_Cain Posted March 5, 2004 Posted March 5, 2004 OK two(ish) things, Where do they hide the tlk files, I cant seem to find them. Two, is there a program thats edits the dlg files hassle-free? If not could someone make one or should I just wait till it's included in the koltor tool?
T7nowhere Posted March 5, 2004 Posted March 5, 2004 The dialog.tlk is in the main Kotor folder and there is a link for a tlk editor in the tools sticky. For now the best tool for editing game .dlg is nwtoolset(which you can only get with NWN) you can make new dialog within the gff editor fairly easily. Read the bioware dev section in paticular the Conversation Format.
T7nowhere Posted March 6, 2004 Posted March 6, 2004 Read the stickyTools and mods and look for the name Talchia.
