Marcus(JSA)
I have seen numbers such as '98 fps' in the corner of screen shots on this server before, people such as |GG|Crow_Nest appear to have it on their screens all, or most of the time. Yesterday someone told me to put 'cg_drawfps 1' into the console, and I started to get this fps number also: What exactly does this number mean and why does the number constantly change? Crow_Nest
FPS stands for "Frames Per Second". If you had noticed more fps (Like around 50 or higher) is better as it is smoother to play. Depending on the map, graphic card driver, AA/AF and the amout of detail you have. Some maps like Hoth, you will get higher fps because the level is mostly white so gameplay will be smoother. While corusant, is full of bright colorful lights and bulidings, so you will tend to get lower fps there. The reason why they keep on chaning is because you will get different frame rate on different places of the maps.

Crow_Nest
Y'know, the last option in the "videos" settings in "setup". Turn it off, if its on. Marcus(JSA)
It was already off. When I turned it on the fps dropped by about 5 and I saw no difference. I turned it back off again, still no visible difference - I read what it supposedly does in the JKA Instruction Manual but I doesn't do anything that I can see. I replied to your PM regarding the TDS Dojo map btw.

Actullay theres no difference wether its on or off. It only uses the same refresh rate your monitor is using, and its so happen that you will get lower fps with it on. Andy867
In MP, turning off dynamicglow: /r_dynamicglow 0 along with dynamic lights under the setup more video options will help bump up your FPS, along with downloading the latest video drivers for your video card. Marcus(JSA)
I just got a GeForce 4 MX440 8x a few months back - isn't that sh*t-hot enough without Drivers? Although it currently runs at 4x, I'm getting a PC upgrade tomorrow from Pentium III to Athlon 2800 (maybe 3000) so it will run even better! Will changing dynamic glow make any major difference to me or to my server?
Crow_Nest
Originally posted by Marcus(JSA) Will changing dynamic glow make any major difference to me or to my server? It only effects yourself, not your server. And only works if it is supported on your card. It makes a "soft" warm glow around your saber and other glowing objects, it will look like this and this. Turning it off will cause a major increase in fps, or at least most of the time
