KOTOR Movies

While I am waiting for a resolution of my AREA Creation problem (Keep up the good work Fred ) I was reviewing the Movies in the Movies folder in swkotor. There are a whole lot of movies made that are NOT in the game. One of the good ones is "Repcom".

Using Movie editting software and Radtools I have stripped some areas out and created whole new cut-scene quality movies to script into my New Area ( if I can get my problem resolved.

Do not know if anyone knew this so I thought I would share it with you anyway.

P.S. This is the only forum I have ever subscribed to and to tell you the truth it sure was a good decision. This forum is very helpfull and has really taught me alot about gaming modding.. Thank You Everyone!!!!

I'd be interested in these movies... both the "original" but not included in gameplay ones as well as the "modified" ones you've put together.

What could I use to easily view them? (I haven't even looked at them yet to be honest, so not even sure what format they're in etc).

And I have to agree... if you picked one forum to subscribe to, this was a good pick. Lots of good people around here, and not near the level of fighting and flaming and idiocy you often see. ;)

All the movie files are in bik format, there are 2 unused biks, ads, 1 for republic commando and one for hyperspace.com, to view biks u need rad tools, don't worry, they're free :D , I forget the web adress though, sorry :( The hyperspace add is bad quality, perhaps it's the rad veiwer but while watching vids they never acted like that one did, the pixels stretched as fast moving events happened, however the Republic Commando one ROCKS :p good graphics no pixel stretching just an interesting add that u'll watch again and again, lol, thats a sentance that doesn't apear often, watching an add again and again, LOL. Reminds me of a mountain dew comercial with a robotic soda machine that was shooting mountain dew bottles at....I'm getting off topic. Bridge Commander used the same format for their anims. A word of causion, biks are often very large in file size, very large, make sure u don't add to much or it will suck for those who have 56k modems, yet wish to play the mod.

I am very pleased to finally help you ( in a very little way ) as you have greatly helped me in your wonderfull responses to other forum members.

Rad Tools: http://www.gametools.com (Like it was stated it's Free )

get binkit and smackit

Be sure to get the latest codecs from Microsoft especially the Mpeg V2 as this should stop video problems.

I got the whole codecs I need from:

http://www.undercut.org/msmpeg4/

If you would like to edit or anything else to do with movie creation you can download a free 30 day trial of a great movie program called:Camtasia Studio 2 at the following: http://www.techsmith.com (after 30 days uninstall then reinstall for another 30 days)

This program has a cool feature to capture screens and convert to avi (Binkit converts avi to bik) start your game and anywhere (even cut-scences) you can capure the sequences you want.

If you want to modify the audio get: Dubit also free and also from http://www.techsmith.com

Hope this helps.

Wow... thanks guys. :)

When I get a little free time to get un-lazy about computer stuff (ie. when real life leaves me alone for 20 minutes lol) I'll look into DL'ing some of that stuff. Playing with actual movie sequences has always sounded like fun to me, but I assumed (yes, I know that's not wise) that it was a lot more involved and would require some high-end software I didn't want to shell the cash out for being just barely even a hobby interest.

I have made a very good cut-scene combining a few movies about the attack on the Endar Spire.

It shows the rescue pod flying away then a close up of fighters attacking the spire until it explodes, then shows the rescue pod crashing to Taris.

Also stripped the repcom to show soldiers entering a cave and a creature with wings fluttering just oustside their vision ( might be a good cut-scene to have in prior to entering a cave (Dat. Kor. etc.

Problem is 1 is 9 megs (endar) the other 3 megs both play in the game extremely well ( cannot tell from original ).

If anyone has a anonymous logins for an ftp server I will ftp them to you.

They are in exact same format as the movies in the game are (including sound).

Just pluck them in the movies folder ( be a good idea to back up originals in case you don't like them (NOT)

speaking of movies : has anyone else gone through and played all the bink files in the movie foldeer of their KOTOR install ?

i found one ive never seen in game before , look for this name : 01g.bik

seems like it should play before you get to the swoop race on Taris but ive never come across it , shows a swoop racer crashing and exploding

seems to be the guy that crashed on the track before you get to have your first race
