Darth333
I can't edit text with the GFF editor. When I want to change the conversation and i click on Text, i see two white unidentified boxes that should normally be identified as StrRef and LanguageID . When I enter -1 in the first box and 0 in the lower box, normally I should be able to type new text in the blank window but there is no cursor and I can't type anything. At first, I thought my version was corrupted but it seems that the probelm is somewhere else. I redownloaded the GFF editor and I tried both Bioware and Roboius versions and the problem is still there. I tested the GFF editor on my computer at work (don't tell my boss) and it runs fine. But when I get home, there is no way I can change the dialogues. Any idea of what may cause this? BTW, I heard sometime ago that someone was working on a dialogue editor for Kotor: any news of this project? I mean GFF can be a pain when someone wants to edit large dialogue files and NWN toolset is even worse since it removes all the VO_ResRef. Editing the talk table is easy but not very practical. tk102
I think we talked about this once before. Does pressing the Enter button not work for you?
Darth333
Yes, we talked about it before. I started a new thread because the subject title of the other thread was completely different. When we talked I thought the problem was solved but it's not. Pressing the Enter button does not work on my computer at home. However, everything works fine at the office (but I can't make KotOR mods in a lawyer's office). This is how I know something is really wrong. tk102
i click on Text, i see two white unidentified boxes that should normally be identified as StrRef and LanguageID . That part is strange. Maybe you could link a screenshot when you get back in front of your PC at home.
Darth333
Screenshot uploaded at: http://mars.walagata.com/w/darth333/GFFscreen.JPG As you can see, the two boxes are not identified and they are in the middle of the blank window where i should normally be able to type new text. Tried redownloading the editor at least three times but still have the same problem. Moreover, the only way I can open a dlg file is by opening the GFF editor and selecting the file I want to open from the editor's file menu. I can't open the editor by clicking directly on the file and I can't even select the GFF editor as the program to open the file with the right mouse button.( At the office everything works fine. ) My PC runs under windows XP. tk102
That's very strange looking. Have you tried changing the Color Scheme of your computer? That's a long shot I know. If you click below the second text box a little way, can you type characters that appear in the white area?
Darth333
That's very strange looking. Have you tried changing the Color Scheme of your computer? That's a long shot I know Yes. Tried everything I could think of. (Color scheme, font size, screen resoution, etc) If you click below the second text box a little way, can you type characters that appear in the white area? No, no cursor appears.
Darth333
OK. I finally have the ***thing running. I didn't solved the display problem but i found out that the cursor was hidden behind the grayish part of the window and that i could bring it down pressing enter sever several times (I just have to press backspace several times too to bring it back to its initial position.) So now, I can type in new conversations. I can modify existing entries in dlg files with no problem. However, when I try to add new conversations - new user defined structs- (I don't forget to point at the next conversation entry in the Index field.) and then load a game, the npcs just stand there and they don't react to anything - not only for the parts that I added but for the whole file. I have gone through the material concerning the GFF editor published by Bioware on their web site and I really don't know what I am doing wrong. Any idea of what I may be missing? Perhaps, if someone agrees, I could send the file I worked on and you could tell me what is wrong.
tk102
When you add your new struct in the EntryList or ReplyList, are you remembering you change the Type as well as Field ID to the new index? Both numbers are supposed to be the same according to DLG format specification. P.S. I'm about half way done with a DLG editor so it's on my mind. Darth333
Problem solved. I made a stupid typo. BTW, while browsing the NWN forums, I came across another modified GFF editor made by Dawuid that allows cut and paste. It saves a lot of time and reduces the chances to make typos. ( It also solved my display problem) It's available here: http://users.servicios.retecal.es/fsantosjal/NwNEditor.zip (note: it's supposed to be in English but some buttons have Spanish names) P.S. I'm about half way done with a DLG editor so it's on my mind. When can we expect this marvel to come out TK?
tk102
Estimate - Let's say I'll have a test version available the first part of next week Apr 6 and hopefully some feedback and release by Apr 13. This app is text-based (leaving room for Fred if wants to develop a GUI version). If you can get over that, I think you'll find it's pretty easy to work with. tk102
I'd think you'd rather be making mods.

tk102
I believe the dialog editor that I've working on is now in beta. If you're interested in trying it out, click on my sig. The screenshots a couple posts up have been updated to reflect the current version. I'll publish a new thread when I feel that all the bugs are out -- I can't find any right now, but maybe you can. If you do, please PM me or email me rather than post. Special thanks to T7Nowhere and Darth333 for doing preliminary testing thus far.
