Master B
what is the difference between those that require the "cheat" console and those that require putting them in the OVERRIDE folder? or are they both the same? A quick tutorial on how to install them for a new user? thanks...
tk102
Have you downloaded a mod that doesn't have a good readme file? If so, name some names because that calls for public humiliation of the author. Most mods will have an accompanied readme file that contains instructions on how to use them. Normally, most mod files are placed in the override folder. Occasionally, some files may require being placed in the modules folder. The cheat console is used occasionally for mods that should be deemed unfinished. It's a quick way to import a custom item into the game or warp you to a new place. 'giveitem' or 'warp' are the cheat codes that are required in those cases. I hope that helps. I should hope also that the modders here are writing good readme files for people who have never modded the game before -- remember modders, you were new to this once too so write your instructions clearly. T7nowhere
Atleast 90% of all KotOR mods will require you to copy the files to override. Unless otherwise stated assume the mod is supposed to go into Override. There are a few that will requirer you to put a .mod file in the modules folder or if there are sound files then those most likely will go into streamwaves. If you install a new item you may have to use the cheat command "giveitem itemname" without the quotes. Though many have placed their custom items somewhere in-game which you will have to find, but you could still use the the giveitem cheat to get the item right away. edit: ya beat me to it tk
Jackel
may i make a suggestion .. we could create an all pupose readme post here in the forums , this way someone can copy it and paste in toa text file , save it and name it readme it would have stuff like author : (your name goes here) name of mod : (your mods name) instructions : etc etc also a piece saying at the bottom this mod isnt endorsed , tested , in use by LucasArts etc etc similar tot he one that has to be at the bottom of the Jedi Knight levels , skins etc just an idea i came up with about 5 mins ago when trying to write my readme , i suck at them ..
