JK2 Mac: Nice Game But MAJOR problems! Please try to help!

OH man this really sucks. I hate to be a cry baby But Being a Mac Guy in gaming sucks in case of Star Wars.

It's not very mac and Powerbook friendly. I just Started the Game (I think it really rocks) and I got to the Kejim Base Where I litterary ran around for hours and finally figured out that in the circular room I had to shoot through the window of a command room to extend the bridge. I made it to the observation room where I hit the left control three times so I saw the force shield crack up in the other room. And when I moved on my game CRASHED. Just went away from my desktop. This never happened since I bought the powerbook about two years ago and I played plenty of games. Now what I think is that I just filled up my cache with all the saved stuff from my running around for so long. I tried to load 3 earlier saves from todays date and they showed the saved location but the loading status bar doesn't even show up and the game just disappears after a few seconds. Now I had one saved game from 2 days ago. I loaded that first and it did load, than I pushed the Escape key and went to the load window and clicked on the saved game from today. Now the status bar shows that it loads and I'm all happy I think I made it. But a few seconds later the game crashes again. And there had been no sound. Sorry for this lenghty explanation and Please someone help. Thank you Volker

I optimized my Powerbook in all aspects and it is not a hardware problem.

Hmmm ...

I have had nothing but great experiences with JKII in general, and never a *single* crash - either on JKII or Jedi Academy - using either my older TiBook 1GHz or my current Aluminum Powerbook 1.25 15".

What hardware do you have? I assume you're running OS X? What version? Have you done the usual defrag/virus check/repair permissions deals?

What other Q3-based games (e.g. Elite Force 1&2, MoHAA, RtCW, SoFII etc) are you running successfully?

I'll help as best I can,

Mike

Do you have the latest official patch for the game?

Believe it or not, around the time JA came out a "final" JK2 Mac patch was released. May have to do some searching to find it though... if it's not on LucasArts.com (I'd try Yoda's Help Desk first).
