Battle Royale- WTF?

I saw this on UK TV last night, but didn't have the time to write about it 'till now. First off can I say it was a very intense and well-made film and I liked most of it. Apart from the end and the beggining. Please help me understand some things I didn't get if u've seen the movie.

 

1) What's with the girl at the beggining?

 

2) Who was in the helicopter at the end? It said 4 people left at one point. Now that's true. There was that psychopath kid and those other 3 kids who'd stuck together. They blow his head off. 3 left now. One of them turns against them (or so we are lead to believe) and it appears that he shoots them. Only him left now. But he doesn't get sent back home at the end. He staggers out of the jungle and talks to the teacher. Then that boy and girl come.

Someone else must have survived, becuase those soldiers wouldn't be saluting the pilot of the helicopter, or would they?

And wouldn't they have thier collars blown up becuase only one is allowed to survive.

 

3) WTF happened at the end? Is thier teacher a zombie or something. I mean they shot him and he appears dead. But then the phone rings and he picks it up. Also he shoots a water pistol(!) at them but when he shoots the phone it looks like a bullet hit.

And why did he draw a picture of that girl and why did she have a dream about him (don't ask)?

And did that shotgun guy protecting them die at the end too.

My bloody computer ran out of disk space half way through and didn't switch to the other drive like it should... so i only recorded half of it. Damn it. Now i'll have to buy the dvd....

Kitano told them it was over after they heard the gunshots. Nanahara and Noriko and Kawada lived and left on that boat, later Kawada died on the boat after he found out what his gf's last words and smile were about.

No, Kitano lived through that just to put an end to his suffering soul... or so I thought, been a while since I read the book, or watched the movie. Kitano drew the picture of Noriko, because she was the only student that he cared for, he though of her kind of as his daughter almost.

She had a dream about him because she was wondering why he did this, and it kind of showed their relationship.

yes, Kawada died at the end on the boat.
