eastcoast2895
http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=919833&topic=14068455 someone in the gamefaqs forum brought up an interesting thought that republic commando (or at least the trailer) does not have the star wars feel. i posted my comment on the gamefaqs forums and wonder what people in this community think about if republic commando may/may not have the star wars feel and the importance of the star wars feel to star wars games. i personally like the direction republic commando is taking the star wars genre with or without the star wars feel because it is a new gamestyle and, by the looks of pictures and trailers, new look at the star wars universe. StormHammer
I really like what they're doing with Republic Commando. The way the graphics are rendered is intentional - inspired by the likes of Saving Private Ryan - to give a darker, grittier feel to the combat. Even the movies had their dark moments, like Luke venturing into the cave on Dagobah in ESB. They used a different visual style to the rest of the film to give the scene greater impact. Lucasarts are doing the same thing with Republic Commando. It's supposed to show the darker, rougher side of combat in the SW universe. It's not all shiny armour and vibrant surroundings. All the footage I've seen so far has left me impressed, so I'm happy to see Lucasarts use some creative license.
Doomie
Well, yes, it's supposed to show the darker side of the starwars universe, but it IS still the starwars universe. Undeniably.
