saberhagen
Are we going to try again next week? I think we need to arrange for everyone who's interested to meet up in the same chat room or irc channel, cos atm it's a bit disjointed with forum pms being slow and unreliable and some people on msn and some not. swphreak
Check out GB's new chat room. mIRC click here, or if you don't have mIRC, click here. Good idea saber. Hopefully we can get more active and discuss more in chat and here.

Admiral Vostok
I have returned from my trip to Los Angeles, and would very much like to see a game happen this Sunday. I guess IRC is probably the best way to go, so everyone should meet at the address Phreak posted above. I have only just returned, and my room-mate who looks after the router is away again, but hopefully he'll be back before the game so I can play this time... Admiral Vostok
Well I don't know what happened today. StarWarsPhreak, saberhagen and I showed up in the chat room for the game at 7pm GMT, and thankfully we managed to figure out my router problems. Unfortunately no one else showed up. We figured no-one else knew about the change of time DMUK had suggested (although he wasn't there either!) so decided to wait for the usual time of 9pm GMT. So I headed back to the chat room then... but no-one else was there! Hopefully we can get organised enough to play a game next Sunday. We need to agree on a time for starters! saberhagen
I was online aagain at 9pm but I couldn't find the chat room cos I couldn't get into the forums to click on the link! I did go to CCRM2 for about half an hour but no-one I recognised was there. But let's keep trying...

Admiral Vostok
Well it would seem the fickle computer gods are against us. Yet we must keep trying! What time shall we meet this week?
Guest DarthMaulUK
7pm GMT is good for me. How does everyone else fit in with the time? Its not too late and not too early for most. If we set the same time every week, people will start to remember (hopefully!) DMUK

Admiral Vostok
Well at last the inaugural forum game was played, after four long weeks of computer problems and bad turn-outs. What follows is a report of the proceedings. pbguy1211, saberhagen and myself were the only ones who showed this time. A little disappointing, but at least enough for a decent game. We agreed on a free-for-all, even though I didn't like my chances going up against the two best players on the forum. The game was chugging along nicely. saberhagen was Confederacy, pbguy was Rebels and I had decided on Republic (I would have chosen Rebels too but thought I'd mix things up a bit).Of particular note was the number of nerfs on the map we played: pbguy had a nursery and a half, I had two full nurseries and about 12 that I slaughtered, and saberhagen had about four nurseries full. Not too far into the game - possibly in tech 2 or earlier - saberhagen dropped out of the game. Well I was worried because pbguy said "I was just about to attack him", and I had little in the way of a defensive force. I managed to hold off his first few strikes, but eventually my pitiful base fell to his swarm of mounties. pbguy more than tripled my score in that one. Upon returning to the irc room after the game, we met up again with saber. As the first game hadn't taken too long, we decided upon a second game. This was an asteroid one, though we weren't on separate asteroids. saber and pbguy were Confeds and Rebels again, and I thought I'd give Naboo a try, still wanting an Air/Jedi civ but not wanting Rebels and soured on Republic. With saberhagen not dropping out this time, he and pbguy were content to fight each other and leave me pretty much alone... that was a mistake. After some time saberhagen indicated he was about to die. Well I didn't like the sound of that, as soon as he was finished off pbguy would come for me! So I sent in some fighters too clear pbguy out of saber's base, though it looked as though it had been an intense fight as there were only a handful of pbguy's troops to clear out. Next, I began my assault against pbguy. I distracted him to the back of his base with a handful of Jedi Masters, then assaulted the fron with everything I had. After churning out wave after wave of fighters and crusaders, I finally managed to wipe out pbguy's standing army... but his massive base would not be destroyed quickly. I sent in my newest swarm of fighters, and I guess pbguy didn't like the looks of them because he decided to resign right then, so I didn't have to worry about finishing off his base after all! Well next I sent what I had into a preliminary attack on saber's base... and he had not been idle. A host of anti-air mobiles greeted me and made short work of my fighters... but by then I had another replacement wave/swarm. Having managed to snag four holocrons during the start of the game, I was able to churn out fighters, bombers, crusaders and Jedi masters until eventually saberhagen's massive force was gone, and the destruction of his base had begun. Fortunately for me, I think saber's resources were by this time virtually extinguished, so in no time he resigned. "What?" I hear you say. "Vostok beat pbguy and saberhagen?" Yes. I'm as surprised as you are. If saber and pbguy had focussed on me instead of each other at the start of the game, and hadn't let me get as many holocrons as I did, such a thing would not have happened. But it did, and it looks good taken at face value, so I'm happy. Very good game, guys. Hopefully next week we'll have more of a turn out. Sorry you couldn't make it Phreak, we got your message. So everyone, next game is: Sunday, 20th of June 7pm GMT / 2pm US EST
Majin Boba Fett
the story of the second battle is an inspiration to myself as well as to bantha fodder all over the world. hopefully, everyone will make the same mistake against me. and, i'd prolly still lose. anways, good game. pbguy1211
well, game 2 was a tale of mistakes. saberhagen and i each attacked eacj other in t2 and t3. i'll have to go back and see what vostok did in that time. but while we were fighting each other, i at the least let vosotk get too big without attacking him. in that time he got 4 holocrons, and at the time i left had 15000 more nova because of it. i left because he was simply able to keep churning out all the air forces in mega amounts and my air couldnt compete and my AA wasnt able to be made fast enough. so his stupid air is what won it. and that he was able to snatch 4 holocrons uncontested on my part. at t4 he was pretty tough since i wasted a lot of my efforts on saber. though i think they also faught. i recorded the game, i'll have to go back and see how it unfolded. [edit] went back to see the error of my ways. in hindsight, vostok could have easily been had in t2... but hindsight is always 20/20 now isn't it? in t3 he was vulnerable. but he never got a full attack on him. so he prospered. at about 1 hr of gametime i took out 2 cc's a bunch of workers and a lot of saber's army. then i retreated when vostok's air came around saber's base. vostok though still had 1 cc left i didnt see so he was still in enough shape to play a factor. saber could have had me in t2 at one point if he micro'ed his troops well enough. late in t2 vostok had a bunch of troops. so he was defended enough. though i cant remember the last game i played where i lost to a guy with no mech center! so game 1 i won, but only because saber got disconnected. and game 2 vostok one. friggin holocrons... saberhagen
I thought I was getting the upper hand in the trooper ar against pbguy, but ironically I let him off the hook by trying (and failing) to stop vostok grabbing a holocron. My troops chased his padawn all the way into his base where vostoks troops massacred mine. After that I decided to lay off and go T3 instead of building more troopers. Then I did the most stupid thing I could possibly have done: I went strikes. I know pbguy is always talking about how he likes to mass mounties and strike rushes don't stand a chance against him, but I did it anyway, and he was dead right. Nemesis follows hubris. A couple of mounty floods wiped out a lot of my base and from then on I was just left to hope pb and vostok would concentrate on each other so I could rebuild. By the time pbguy resigned, I'd clawed my way back and was T4. I tried bombarding vostoks base with cannons, but he kept sending out wave after wave of fighters, bombers and crusaders. There was massive slaughter on both sides as my aa mobiles and repeaters chewed up the attackers, but eventually attrition caught up with me as there was virtually no carbon or nova left anywhere on the map. Overall, it was a very fun game and anyone could have won it. looking forwrard to the next one.
