yaebginn
its online, how can I have a tone. you sounded preachy, so I called you a preacher. gomer pyle was actually good at soldiering before his death. he was bad, then became better, then comitted murder/suicide. and it is not yet decidd what the kit will be for. all I know is that snipers aren't meant for infiltration as spies, they are meant for covering their troops. Idei
that is your opinion. stating over and over that snipers are snipers really was repetitive and didn't give any insight into your actual position on the matter. Earlier you mentioned the SEALs. SEALs are sometimes sent on missions where there objective might include destroying a target with explosives. It's quite possible that members of the SEAL team on the mission are proficient snipers. In fact, they may all be armed with high powered rifles fitted with scopes. Being able to snipe is only part of what a SEAL sniper would bring to the mission. They are cross trained as well so even if they had a dedicated sniper, that sniper might also be a medic, translator, explosives expert or have other expertise. SEAL teams specialize in special operations, and if their units include members that are cross trained in various disciplines what is the problem with having units in battlefront that are cross trained like SEALs? The fact that they are called Marksman instead of Commando? Idei
yaebginn
because not everyone is a SEAL, thats why SEALS are special. not every troop can be superman.
Idei
I suggest looking at the game as it is today and be prepared to accept that the Marksman unit will have commando capabilities, rather than strictly sniper skills. that's the best way to describe the marksman today. In comparison, the recon droid also has commando like capabilities with it's orbital strike. they're implementing the class more like a commando and less like a sniper. just accept it. yaebginn
you are the epitome of the world today. 'just accept it' NO! I wont accept your incorrect views. Snipers can be scouts, I agreed with that since the beginning. hence the orbital strike, they can see it from afar and call in a strike. they are not some sort of spy, though, that infiltrates enemy headquarters and takes them out from within. Idei
watch it yaebinn. I warned you earlier about the insults. i will respond in kind if you press the issue. I'm not asking you to accept my views. In fact, I doubt you know what they are. All i've attempted to do in this thread is figure out what the Rebel revisions would mean to the player, and expressed what i liked and didn't like about the changes. i get that your position is vehemently opposed to the marksman in any role besides long range sniper. It's clear to me that they will be given a more commando like role and i'm suggesting that you accept that. I'm not asking you to like what i like or didn't like about the revisions. I'm asking you to calm down and realize that most likely the marksman will be more like a commando/sniper rather than just strictly sniper. Just accept that for the moment. It may change at a later date, but let reality sink in. They did change the Rebel faction units and there's a good chance that they will be implemented as it is in retail. yaebginn
one thing, i ddint insult you. second thing, they can be other things, such as scout. but they arent a spy. and i wont bow down to you. I'm sick of you people trying to get me to accept your weird views. gay marriage, abortion, snipers being spies, lies, hatred. I will no longer stand it. next time you tell me to accept your views, you will get an insult.

yaebginn
Originally posted by Idei I give up. Everyone seems to think the rebel marksman is strictly a sniper. They represent ideals, a way of life, and reflect the strength of a country. If soldiers can be all of the above, where is it written that the marksman class should be dedicated to solely sniping? Idei an infantry soldier doesnt snipe. each clas is appointed a duty. he does it to his best abilities. snipers represent those three as well, just in a different way. The great yaebginn has spoken. Idei
Copycat. Can't even come up with an original title for yourself. There isn't a thought in your head that is original, and that's sad. Keep at it though, maybe you'll get better. Idei

Idei
I find it amusing that you've never taken any grammar lessons. "have much comprehensive abilities" At any rate, this is off-topic. Keep it on topic and I might continue this conversation. Idei

lukeiamyourdad
Ok, I ain't no mod but hell... OK now kids, settle down. yaebginn, you shouldn't have started with the insults. So now you cool down. Idei, if you wouldn't be so stuck up against comments about your ideas and views, this never would have started. I suggest you lighten up a bit, this is a forum, debates can come up. If you don't want to start one or are forced into one, you can always get out in a less harsh way. Now, we still don't know what's in the Rebel Disguise kit. It could simply be taking the appearance of the enemy, invisibility or wither one of those and some kind of exp-pack or tools to destroy something. As of now, until we know exactly what's in the disguise kit, the Marksman can neither be a sniper only or a commando unit. Though there is another factor here. Even if the Marksman has commando capabilities, it has a sniper rifle. Now, perhaps you don't play MP a lot but if you do,_you know that almost(I said almost), nobody uses everything in their kit. Now, example. BF1942, Omaha Beach. Allies always spawn as a sniper with the exception of a few(you'll never see me use a damn sniper kit). Now, you have a destroyer behind which can receive artillery coordinates. You're sittting in the destroyer's gun and call for coordinates. No one ever presses "5" to use his binoculars to give you a target... that being said, people won't use a kit to it's full capabilities. This isn't like Wolf:ET's covert who can use both the Sten(SMG) and FG42(Automatic Rifle/Sniper). They actually could use their ability for killing in close combat when on a sabotage mission. When people realize that going on a sabotage mission with the Marksman is suicide since you'll probably sooner or later be engaged in close combat, people will revert back to using only the sniper and cloaking ability, forgetting that you can sabotage enemy installations. Idei
Assuming that the Marksman kit includes a cloak ability. The point about players skipping the use of the kit if it's too troublesome is valid. I'm interested in seeing how the game implements the kit and whether players will make use of it. Idei

Idei
yaebinn you really need to read what's been posted in this thread. Your point is that snipers shouldn't be used in infiltration. My point is that the Marksman class, with the kit, will have the capability of performing tasks like infiltration. How players actually play the Marksman class is still to be determined.
