After the 14 days is up. Official word

People have been asking about what happens once the 14 days is up.

ok..

You will be given the chance to subscribe to Galaxies and continue your online experience with the character you created - so you won't lose anything.

However, if you leave a gap (say a month or more) there is no guarantee that your character will still be there. The same applies to those on the 30 day roll over subscriptions as well.

This is the official word from Lucasarts

They have us!

Just like drugs - the first taste is always free....

What is the cheapest UK source for the game?

Or will they monthly subscription charge be offered immediately?

Thanks for finding these things out for us...

Once I have paid at least one subscription charge - does your character remain on the books for all time?

Currently SW Galaxies is extremely hard to find in stores due to a recent CD key error. I have spoken to Activision today, who publish Galaxies in the UK and are aware and stocks should be in stores now - but they are not in most GAME stores.

You might find a copy in WHSMITH but you will have to have a good look and DONT expect to pay any more than £19.99 for the game.

What ever you do, do NOT purchase a second hand copy of the game as the CD key will not work for a new account.

Once you start paying, there is no guaurantee that your character will remain on the server if they have to do a server wipe. This applies to everyone but is very unlikely.

They *should* offer you to subscribe to the game online without having to purchase a copy - actually this is something I didnt even ask! LOL I will speak to Lucasarts again today and find out. ;-)

It would be foolish of them not to want to give the easiest path to new subscribers - but there is nothing, no documentation nada with the download. Add that to the fact that you can't post on the official forums without being a subscriber and we DEMOists are left in an information vacuum.

Shoddy.

I would prefer not to buy the box - as I am sure the cost will exceed the monthly charge - and i have the 2 gig download safely filed away - the manual might of been nice though on day one though.

Spoken with Lucasarts and you will indeed have to go out and BUY the game. You will get another 30 days trial with the game, plus all the documentation. Besides, if you didnt buy the game and for whatever reason you had to reformat, you wouldnt have the game to re-install.

The game is pretty inexpensive now (not sure about the USA)

I phoned GAME up yesterday and they don't have any due to that cd-key error. I guess my characters going to the recycle bin if I can't get to WHSmith or something like that.

From Activision

We're still investigating the CD key errors and stock issues, I'll get back to you as soon as I have an update. Your email has hopefully galvanised people back into action over this.

Regarding gamecards, it was originally not financially viable at launch, but I'm told the situation is due to be re-assessed in August.

Best

Well I am in the same boat now, I'm hooked. I will be going out to track down a copy as soon as the shops open, cause its 7am on a Saturday. Glad that the game will be cheap since its a year old and the bugs are not too great in number as far as I have seen.

Don't like the subscription charge, but oh well I played America's Army for a long time and that was free so its swings and roundabouts.

The only bugs I noticed was where a couple of normal missions had no target and I cant complete any entertainer missions it seems. I go to the gold shower of light and entertain but after 2min I still don't complete the mission, I even tried inside the venues. Maybe I should make a new thread...

Frankly Im amazed. I did the trial, ordered the game, and I am now the proud owner of one of the dud activation keys.

I can only contact customer support during weekdays which is no help as I work abroad and I need to be in front of the PC I installed the game on apparently.

I am so mad. Feel I have been duped - if this is a pay monthly service, I expect a pay monthly level of support. My telephone contract is less money, and I get 24hour support from them.

Yes I am in the UK. Ordered the game from Amazon.

Any help much appreciated. Will try my hand with support from Ireland where I work next week. Not holding my breath though.

Suspect they will ask me questions that I will need to be in front of my machine to answer.... ho hum.

You can do a live Tech support with SOE online via their tech support website.

I am shocked at how long they have taken to discover this problem, or admit it to the public as it has been in the UK since March.

Try the tech support first, then report back if you have no joy and i will speak with the powers that be!

This is the email I had from support after a couple of online conversations:

Due to software priates out there, they have to protect their investment.

I too have been victim of dodgy rego keys in stock.

Live in Australia and have purchased through online retailer here, and they've had running battle with SOE to get new rego keys for their existing stock.

They've had this resolved now so hopefully my shiny new box & valid rego key will appear this week.

LOVED the demo and am now hooked, playing KOTOR to pass the days until SWG arrives.

Not sure what you mean.

Bascially, there was a production error with the codes, plus some stores put those copies returned back on sale.
