Yup, they took out the Imperial Officer. Great job screwing up Battlefront, guys. :roleyess:

I guess it'll be up to the modding community to improve the screwed up factions. :(

The imperial officer's main purpose was to hunt out rebel bothan spies, and since the bothan spy is no longer in the game, the officer is not of much use any more. Of course, the officer still had his little droid thing where he can release a small droid that can be controlled by the player to scout out and maybe attack enemy forces, but was vulnerable to attack. They probably thought that was too unbalanced, so they removed him from the game all together. There's my two cents. :jawa :jawa

They really shouldn't have removed the Bothan spy either. :roleyess:

The officer's other purpose was to supply health and ammo. But since they made the pilot a medic ( :roleyess: ) I guess that's another less task for the officer.

Battlefront crew, please just answer me these questions: how many times did you see Dark Troopers fighting on the front lines in the movies?

Anyone? Okay...

How many times all thoughout the entire series were Imperial Officers seen on pretty much every planet?

:roleyess:

Let's just hope that the modding community can add some correctness to the factions... I'm really annoyed with the developers of Battlefront, simply because they can't determine the difference between a deep-space pilot and a field medic. :roleyess:

Heavy Weapons classes:

Rebel = Vanguard

Imperial = Shock Troop (I call it a Field Trooper, which is what it's called in Jedi Knight)

Clones = ARC Trooper

Separatists = Anti-Armor Droid

The jetpack trooper is the special unit.

I like your point. The dark troopers were introduced in Dark Forces and what was the timeline of Dark Forces? I think there is some comflict there. What was the main purpose of Dark Forces... oh to destroy Imperial facilities making equipment for Dark Troopers. Wasn't the Imperial dark trooper project over-seer also killed in that game? Maybe they should save him, and potential other factions for an expansion. I'd prefer maybe a At-ST driver (like we've seen) or an Imperial gunner (like those on the deathstar) or a deathstar trooper ( the type you see in facilities or the detention area).

I know people are going defend the game saying "Well look at the screen shots for Endor!!! There was only a small rebel party and none of which were Vanguards. What about Bespin the rebels are wearing the woodland camo?" They can make artistic leaps of faith and do what they want regardless of realism or correctness. After all if it were totally correct it would be lame. Both views are true.

I'm thinking that the ARC trooper will be the clones special unit, like the imperial officer (although i'm pretty sure he's not in the game anymore)as ARC stands for Advanced Recon Commando. So, the ARC trooper seems more of course like a commander, not a rocket type unit. :jawa :jawa

The ARC Trooper will indeed be the Heavy Weapons unit.

And the Imperial Officer was taken out so they could have their never-shown-in-the-movies EU Dark Trooper. :roleyess:

This has been confirmed here:

The Imperial side will have the stormtrooper, shock trooper, pilot, scout trooper, and dark trooper.

Let's hope the modding community can clean up the screwed up factions...

I pity da fool who hates the Dark Trooper! And let me ask you this, how many officers have you seen fighting on the battle fields, huh? :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: (SPAM teh smileys!!11!1oneoneone) I for one am GLAD that they choice the officer for removal over the Dark Trooper. Ever since playing Dark Forces it has been on of my dreams to play as the heavy cool DT. The officer would have been an underused class anyway, and who says there gone? They may make him a pilot or whatever just like they did with the ARC trooper who I believed was going to be a special unit. Well at least he's in the game.

They wouldn't make the pilot an officer... they've already decided that they want a deep-space pilot to do the jobs of a medic.

just like they did with the ARC trooper who I believed was going to be a special unit. Well at least he's in the game.

I see that you didn't read my post saying that the ARC Trooper was NOT going to be the special unit.

So what if the officer is taken out,it was obviously for gameplay reasons...how can you say its screwed up when you havent played the game yet?!?!Maybe it was a change for the good for all you know.

Keep in mind that the people who took the officer away for a never-before-seen-on-film Expanded Universe droid are the same people who think that deep-space pilots should be field medics.

I never mentioned that the ARCs were out, I said I was glad that they WERE. And about the pics well... um... thats not a battlefield <_< One is in a detention center, while the other was suppose to be a simple capture mission. Officers aren't ment to go frontline like the troops so sending them into the middle of war could mean that the Empire could lose some good hands. Imagen what it would be like if Thrawn was running around firing a blaster in some famous battle... One last thing is that I was joking when I said the officer will be the medic, but you never know. Since its not really a pilot anymore (what with the safe ejection gone), it could have been easily been given the officer skin.

Also the Dark Trooper owns the puny officer anyday, if they did inclued an officer, what are the chances that you'd be the only one playing as him?

General Veers, you could say, went into the battlefield. Just not on foot. :D

Orbital strikes are not as powerful as a single E-11-wielding jetpack trooper?! :p

Well to be fair, we didn't exactly see TIE Fighter Pilots going into foot battles... did we? No! Pilots are not ground forces, yet, they still have them in Battlefront!

Well, as soon as Battlefront comes out, I'll start right into my fixing of the factions.

This is somewhat old news but all the abilites of the Imp Officer have now been given to the sniper. You can call in Probots that you control as the sniper and use them to mark points for Orbital Strikes, so the Imperial Officer isn't completly lost. Just wanted some of you to know that (this means you TK-8252:D).

Whos to say pilots cant be field medics?

Oh, yeah, I can just imagine it.

"Rogue Squadron! We got an injured soldier on Endor! You need to fly half way across the galaxy and get a pilot to offer medical assistance!"

No. :roleyess:

pi·lot ( P ) Pronunciation Key (plt)

n.

1. One who operates or is licensed to operate an aircraft in flight.

2. Nautical.

a. One who, though not belonging to a ship's company, is licensed to conduct a ship into and out of port or through dangerous waters.

b. The helmsman of a ship.

3. One who guides or directs a course of action for others.

4. The part of a tool, device, or machine that leads or guides the whole.

5. A pilot light, as in a stove.

6. A television program produced as a prototype of a series being considered for adoption by a network.

No where are the tasks of a medic and a pilot similar in anyway.

I don't think that you need to go to medical school to pilot an airplane. Doctors do not get a medical degree so they can shoot down enemy planes.
