How many of those survived the class axe? 5. The AT-ST driver fortunately will see the light of day but as the pilot class on Endor. Still its sad.

It's all done in the name of balancing out the factions in the game. Personally, i think anyone should be able to drive a vehicle in the game a la Battlefield 1942/vietnam, but it seems that only the pilot has the ability to do so. I guess they're sticking with canon on this one, and that's cool too. But i wonder what the point of having pilots is if the vehicles are relatively weak in that they can be destroyed in a few shots except for the at-at which is what all the opposing factions will try and destroy first (i assume). Also, the pilots aren't strong in terms of artillery so they are probably the easiest to pick off when scrambling to get into vehicles.

I dissagree about the pilot theory. It only says the pilots are the only people who can EXIT A VEHICLE safely and I'm not sure what the safely part means (just ability to leave, leave with out getting hurt, etc.) but I think that they'll let other types of players fly if there going to make a pilot able to fight his own on the ground and in the air I'm sure they would even it out some how with the other units.

It has already been established for quite some time now that all classes will be able to pilot vehicles.

And, the only Imperial unit that was removed is the Imperial Officer so they could have their unrealistic Dark Trooper.

The Republic has a Clone Trooper, ARC Trooper (Heavy Weapons), Clone Pilot, Clone Sharpshooter, and the Jetpack Trooper (Special).

What planet is the shock trooper on in that picture? I have no memory of a swampish foggy place ever being a battlefield for any battle at all in the Empire vs. Rebel times.

That's Endor.

pilots can survive a vehicle crash, fix vehicles and heal themselves and others. The only draw backs to being a pilot, especially in the rebel case is having to an orange flight suit in a nice green, grey or white environment and not having a decent small-arms weapon. Let me guess the scatter gun is the SW equivalent to the shotgun, great at close range but useless at distance shots.

Why must every game have a shotgun of some sort? Call it flak cannon or whatever its the same thing. The last one I was happy to use was Doom 2's double barrel and that's only been about 10 years ago.

I don't have any problem with any gun at all and I don't see any reason why I should. Also let me put the idea in a designer's point of view, making new weapons with different asspects is a hard concept and takes a lot of work since you are really the first one making it therefore not setting any bar to meet or any example as to follow. Most humans today learn from example like WWII or The World Trade Centers, so we don't make the same mistakes again which is a completely intelligent thing to do.
