tFighterPilot
One only for itself only, and one with another mesh?
CortoCG
Errr... I got and idea. Why don't you try? You're not a n00b, you're a veteran now, so try it out and get back to us telling what you found out .
tFighterPilot
And the answer is no. Never mind, I simply put both mesh under the same skin modifier. I had a little problem making the feet bones not weight the other feet, but it's ok now ^_^ The skin modifier can be a bitch.
CortoCG
Right, never apply the same skin modifier to different surfaces. All you'll get is a mess, all the surfaces will have all the bones on the list, making your life a living mess. The other way can be slower at the beginning, but it's neat and clean. Assign a different skin modifier to each surface. PS: Now that I think about it, you always did that :\.

If I would apply one skin modifier for each surface, it wouldn't look good, cuz it would create little yet destructive holes.

CortoCG
No, my models are usually one mesh, having two halves is not very smart.
