This means that you can only get it if you're DS. I guess is seems fair, with Solari and all that. Still a bummer though

You know... Upari and Solari are better.

Better than what? I wasn't aware that I was proposing a lightsaber crystal combination :D

I was only commenting that it seemed fair to only get Eralam if you're DS since you can only use Solari if you're LS. Of course, you can always give it to Juhani. Just make sure that you take it away from her before you go to the temple summit :D

I usually use that combination when playing DS :) Hard to take advantage of the criticals though without Nextor :(

Thats true, but critical threat ranges was one of the things I 'corrected' in my games baseitems.2da so it kind of made Nextor less useful.

Tell me more....

Well I made Double sabers crit on a 19-20, regular sabers and short sabers crit on a 17-20 if I recall correctly, I haven't used a standard lightsaber in my game for so long.

And that is basically the main effect the Nextor crystal has, Keen right?

So in my sabers it would change the crit threat range of double sabres to 17-20 and lightsabers and shortsabers to 15-20, while that is still useful... I prefer the attack bonus and the +2-12 Massive criticals, but thats just me! :D

In baseitems.2da the critthreat field the numbers are 1-3, if I recall correctly;

1 = 20

2 = 19-20

3 = 17-20

4+ I havent tried any higher, the game only uses 1-3.

Interesting. Was that to make it more aligned with PnP RP or was it more of a rebelious mod thing? :D

Either way it's cool and I might have to check it out.

It was an I hate the PnP WOTC Star Wars D20 RPG System thing, lightsabers should have a better chance of criticals than what they have in a stock game.

The PnP D20 system just stripped the lightsaber of any of its power and made it nothing better than a 2-16 vibroblade, like that crap about vibroblade chortosis weaves being able to spar with a lightsaber... it's all utter nonsense.

If you go up aginst someone with a lightsaber and all you have is a vibroblade... well first, your not thinking clearly... and you are going to need a new vibroblade, and if you survive the encounter... a change of underwear! :D

Agreed, but if they didn't make that part up, then everyone past Taris would have to have a lightsaber (or an insta-kill pistol) and that's no fun at all.

I do realize that Bioware had to do that because of the limitations of the game engine itself, not being able to handle things like that.

I am not too versed on the D20 game you are talking about, but I agree with you that the game's standard lightsaber is nothing more than a vibrosword with a pretty color and of course the accompanying sound effect!

Is what you did to the upgrade crystal that much different than how you upgrade a color crystal?

I just changed the critical threat range in the baseitems.2da.

You can also change a ton of other things in there as well! :D
