Work in progress: Guard of Valor

Im currently making my 2nd reskin ever and decided to make it a brand new armor with its own story insted of just a reskin. However i need some opinions about 2 aspects of my armor:

1.Story line / item description.

The Guard of Valor is a armored suit which belonged to a Republic soldier. This soldier, Carivius Palermino, was a soldier who was very strong in the Force but this was discovered too late for him to be accepted for Jedi training. During the Mandolorian Wars his platoon came under attack by a large enemy force but could not retreat because the only way out was being covered by enemy troops. Carivius launched a suicidal flanking attack and managed to distract the Mandolorians long enough for his platoon to make a safe retreat. When Carivius died he did not become one with the Force, but insted became one with his armor. The Guard of Valor is infused with the spirit of Carivius, with his courage, his selfless devotion to the Republic... his Valor.

Sappy story eh ? :) im a sucker for that kinda stuff.

NOTE: im Dutch and because of that there might be spelling errors in my story. If you find any please let me know :)

2. Skin colours: I used PMBE08 as a base skin and started working from there.

Screenshot of my current new skin: GoV.jpg

Close-up Screenshot (increased brightness):

Any opinions on the 3 highlighted points in the screenshot would be nice :)

Your spelling is fine. You have an excellent command of the English language.

As for the picture, it's kinda dark :D You might be able to solicit more feedback if the screenshot were taken in a more brightly lit area of the game (upper city Taris, Tatooine, etc).

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, 2nd screenshot uploaded thats brighter and closer to the player :p

Much better! Looks good.

On a side note, I've found that I get the best screens when I switch to another NPC and then take my screenie from first-person perspective. Of course, I'm very anal retentive too, so that might explain a lot :D

Male skin for Guard of Valor is finished (only took 6 hours !! wheeee!!!)

GoV2.jpg

As you might be able to see in this shot the skin is kinda pixelish in some area's, this is due to my skinning and photoshop noobishness (only my second skin ever and the first one was only a recoloring of a existing skin).

Comments or advice on this skin or general skinning tips are offcourse very welcome.

Checklist:

Build item

male skin

female skin

item properties

scripts

release

Motivation for the armor stats.

This armor is designed for Light-side Jedi who want to use Medium Armor. Since this will prohibit the use of many defensive Force Powers this armor will attempt to compensate for that.

Armor statistics

Un-upgraded

Defense class: 6

Feat required: Jedi Defense

Alignment restriction: Light Side

Defense bonus: 2

Improved Force Resistance: 16

Improved Saving Throws: Universal - 2

Immunity: Mind-Affecting

Regeneration Force Points: 2

Damage Immunity: Dark Side - 10%

The un-upgraded armor contains all of the "Force" goodies as the base armor has the spirit of the Force-sensitive Republic soldier infused in it.

Mesh Underlay

Attribute Bonus: Strength - 3

Attribute Bonus: Constitution - 3

Regeneration: 2

Mesh Underlay contains all of the "muscle stimulating" / "medical" opgrades.

Armor Reinforcement

Defense Bonus: 2

Damage Immunity: bludgeoning 10%

Damage Immunity: slashing 10%

Damage Immunity: piercing 10%

Damage Immunity: energy 10%

The armor reinforcement is a coating of cortosis which will resist melee and energy damage more easily. I choose a 10% immunity to melee and energy since this will scale very well throughout the game. The 2 Defense bonus will bring the total defense bonus as high as Davik's War Suit.

Overall i think this suit isnt overpowered, the armor has allot of bonuses but none as extremely powerfull, making this armor imo pretty versitile. let me know what you think of the stats. I want a nice balanced item for armored Jedi.

Im going to try to get a script working (i have never done that yet so wish me luck :D ) so this armor will drop of Sherruk, the mandalorian leader on Dantooine. Story-wise this makes sense as the Republic soldier was killed by Mandalorians and Sherruk likes taking trophy's as evident by his lightsaber collection.

You don't need a script!!!

1) Find and extract his .utc file in KT (Hint: it's in a Dantooine module, not the Blueprint, Characters tree).

2) Open the .utc with GFF Editior.

3) Expand the ItemList node

4) Add your item to the ItemList or replace another item with yours.

5) Save

6) Copy to your Override folder and enjoy.

Scripting is only necessary when the placeable you are trying to use:

a) Doesn't exist

b) Isn't unique (there are about a million instances of footlocker001.utp in KotOR)

c) Doesn't normally hold items (footlockers that you find that don't let you check them for inventory)

I hope that helps.
