Ok I am new to VOIP (voice commands). For all you experienced and especially clansmen using it, what is the best way to use it?

I know that you should not just spout "Ah crap got shot again" or "Who here likes pizza?"

Keep in mind you maybe helping a newbie from abusing it.

:)

From socom it really doesn't take much, you just need to remember its not a chat room, it can be used as one, but its not. The important thing is if you are a sniper relay where the enemy is going, or if your pinned down call for help, but down just start screaming into the mic, thats really important. You need to be controlled but you can also show emotion in your voice. The mic should be used for anything that is happening right now in the game.

Voice comm and how to use it really depends on the system you'll be playing the game on.

For PC there's no time limit to how long you can speak.

For PS2 (if it's set up like socom) you'll get 10 seconds to say what you want.

Not sure on XBOX...

A few simple rules :

Don't yell - you'll be surprised how sensitive the mics are (and how loud some people are). Also - keep the mic out of your mouth (duh).

In game keep your communications short and to the point. Learn to say what you need to quickly so others can be heard as well.

Finally (and most important) DON'T BE AN ASS! There's nothing worse than being in a pub game and having some smacktard singing/belching/abusing others/ etc.

Good teams use the mics for effective communication about where the enemy is and what they're doing/where they're going.

Hmm, games w/voip

Well, I ususally just turn em off

What its there for, and what it gets used for are usually 2 different things

In most games, its "hack", "leet" or "pwned" every 3 seconds, and the f-bomb every other word.

At least on p.c., never tried any consoles online.

I found it easier to rent a 100 slot ventrilo server and make a few dozen diff channels for the clan.

This way the b.f. guys don't bother the ff11 guys , and the c.o.d. guys don't have to listen to the doom3 or c.o.h. guys.

Its not a good idea to screw around or you will probably get booted (trust me i know), but when im playing with my friends all we do is screw around and sing and kill eachother. Just have fun but dont piss people off is the best advice i could give ya. I also tend to find people who are like hard core serious about the game tend to be as annoying as the abnoxious people. Its just a game for crying out loud. Just have fun and ........ oh dont shoot the cuddly ewoks, go shoot gungans .... its much better.
