-Zack-
So, I'm gonna start a new game and I really don't want to screw this one up. Sure the game wasn't hard, but it lasted damn long tough I used easy difficulty setting. First off, I'm thinking that I would like to be a Jedi Guardian since, when I tried Jedi consular, then it looked like I'm no use in melee combat and since I love the melee combat in KOTOR, I'm thinking of being an Jedi Guardian. Now, onto, what I want again I will surely use forces like destroy droid, force speed and heal, the other force powers are your to suggest. Anhoter thing I actually like is talking people out of it, so I'm thinking to use force persuade (or what was it called :/). Anhoter thing is the stats that I need suggestion of and how I build them up. I'm gonna be a single saber Jedi, so I must take dueling for sure, but I don't know any other useful feats that I should take :/ Also, I know that lighter armors give more dex modifier, but I really don't know, what they give. Now this all kinda looks more of a job for Jedi Sentinel, but if it really doesn't matter, then please make a notice
Prime
Originally posted by sushiman First off, I'm thinking that I would like to be a Jedi Guardian Good choice. That is what I usually use. Originally posted by sushiman Now, onto, what I want again I will surely use forces like destroy droid, force speed and heal, the other force powers are your to suggest. Force Wave, Force Wave, and Force Wave. This can get you out of sticky spots with lots of enemies around you, and it does decent damage. Use it. Love it. I also like the Force Valor set as well. The boosted stats help. Also get the Force Armour set. Originally posted by sushiman Anhoter thing I actually like is talking people out of it, so I'm thinking to use force persuade (or what was it called :/). Force persuade is great. I took it at my first Jedi level. It is good to have a decent persuade skill along with it. Originally posted by sushiman Anhoter thing is the stats that I need suggestion of and how I build them up. If you are planning on using the lightsaber a lot, that means put points in either strength or dexterity. Your To Hit bonus comes from whichever of these is higher. If you "max" strength, that means your damage bonus will be higher. If dex, then your defense will be higher. I like that latter because the extra defense is great later on against tough opponants, and crystals can bring up your lightsaber damage pretty high anyway. Also keep wisdom high since that affects the number of Force points you have. A decent charisma score is good if you plan on persuading a lot of people. Intelligence isn't important for a guardian. Originally posted by sushiman I'm gonna be a single saber Jedi, so I must take dueling for sure, but I don't know any other useful feats that I should take :/ Take the Force defense set to block blaster shots. Also take the specialization to get more damage. And take the full flurry set. Critical is nice as well. Originally posted by sushiman Also, I know that lighter armors give more dex modifier, but I really don't know, what they give. I think only powered armours would increase your dex. Most just tell you what the max is you can have when you wear them. I'd say stay away from armour for your jedi and stick with robes, especially the Qel-Droma robes. Armour can affect your use of Force powers. If you have put points in dex you should have a pretty high defense by the end anyway... Hope that helps a bit. -Zack-
Ok thx, but the headband, which gives you +5 wisdom is one of the best items in the game I think, but sadly enough it's light side only :/ Are there any other items that give an high wisdom? All of the Wisdom increasing items are LS only., As for your orginal question: It's all about preparing for the fight with Malak. I never, ever waste Force powers by giving my PC either Cure or Heal. I do make sure that I have lots of Life Support packs and I always make a point to equip the Advanced Medical Interface right before stepping in to fight him. The Circlet of Saresh might make a difference if I'm playing a Consular, due to the high Wisdom modifier. If I'm playing with a Sentinel or a Guardian, almost all of my Force Powers are self-cast anyway. I generally try to use my feats to increase my whoop-@$$ potential. I max out Flurry, Two Weapon Fighting, Conditioning, and Toughness, if I can. As for Force powers, I stick with the Armor tree, the Valor tree, and the Speed Tree. Generally, I also want to have at least Throw Lightsaber so that I can free the Jedi's in statis, thereby shortening the amount of time that I have to spend fighting Malak. With Items, I make a point to purchase the Electrical Capacitance Shield on Kashyyyk. It's expensive, but Malak likes to use Force Lightening a lot and the ensures that he's wasting his attacks while I'm mopping the floor with him. Also be sure to pick up the Dominator Gloves on Korriban and the enhanced crystals from Suvam Tan on Yavin IV. If you go into battle with the Qel-Droma robes, the items, feats, and force powers outline above, and some stims/medpacs, you should be able to clean up fairly quickly. -Zack-
I never actually used any shields that ran out in certain time since the game combat was pretty easy, but that was because I had easy difficulty setting and I always killed any animal in my path and took every mini-quest that was available. DarthBuzzard
My first bit of advice is if you are having doubts between Guardian and Sentinel, go with the Guardian. The Sentinel gets more skills, true, but you were most likely a Soldier and didn’t have many skills in the first place. Guardians also have Force Jump, which in every way demolishes Immunity: Paralysis. With that being said, lets go to Guardian abilities. Feats: Master Jedi Defense Weapon Specialization: Lightsaber Master Toughness Master Conditioning Master Dueling OR Master two weapon fighting. Master Flurry/Master Critical Strike/Master Power Attack Granted, there are others that could be useful, but focusing on Lightsaber and combat abilities, you’ll want as many combat enhancing feats as possible. The Jedi Defense tree allows you to block incoming blaster fire VERY accurately. Lightsaber Specialization gives you +2 bonus attack with Lightsaber, and as a Guardian focuses on combat and Lightsaber abilities, this is rather useful. Toughness subtracts damage suffered AND grants bonuses to vitality, something very useful in combat. Conditioning brings up all your saves, which allow you to resist harmful force powers and the like. Now, here it comes down to personal preference. You can get one (or two or all 3) of the attacks here, but it will most likely cause you to miss out on other feats. However, hybridizing combat styles (IE Master critical to stun an enemy, then Master Power Attack to finish them off while they are stunned [note – attacking ANY stunned enemy will also grant you a deathblow bonus, making your chances of killing them much, much higher.] Also, dueling and two-weapon fighting are preferences as well. I prefer dueling because of the attack and defense bonuses (and because all Sith lords use 1 saber [well most do], duh), but it’s a personal preference. Master dueling is EXCELLENT for drawn out battles because of the defense bonuses, but if you like quick kills get Master two-weapon fighting for the added assault of a second saber. Guardians focus on combat, but Force powers shouldn’t be overlooked. Some good powers to wield (neutral, dark, or light) are these: Saber Throw/Adv Saber Throw Force Immunity Force Breach Force wave Affect/Dominate mind (If you have any level ups after these, then it’s [again] a matter of personal preference.) This is probably the most deadly guardian configuration. I’ll explain my reasoning for each power: Saber Throw: No Jedi can resist a twirling saber, making this a deadly power. With advanced saber throw, it can hit multiple enemies at once. This is also an excellent power for eliminating the captive Jedi in the final fight with Malak. Force immunity: Makes you immune to nearly every force power in the game. This power is great for fighting Malak or other dark Jedi. If you don’t use the electrical capitance shield (Kashyyk, Eli Gand’s shop just down the Great Walkway from your ship, 8500 credits), this is great. It also saves against other powers, making it improved over simply electricity. Force breach: Tired of Dark Jedi saving against your force powers? Force breach should stop that. Busting through any Jedi protection, this will leave them open to Force poundings from both you and your party. This is also very valuable for the fight against Malak. Force Wave: The almighty Force Wave, (arguably) better than any power in the game. Doing 30 (successful save for half damage and no stun) damage and knocking the enemy on the ground or pushing them back, this power is truly a force to be reckoned with. It really shines on the Star Forge when you sometimes find yourself surrounded by enemies. Simply Force Wave and watch them clatter to the floor. (also this power, if unsaved against, will stun the enemy for 9 seconds when they rise from the floor ) Affect mind/dominate mind: these powers can yield much fun in the game, tricking people to do this or that. Also, it can help you out of some sticky situations(example – Manann – if you threaten the Sith officer, she will try to make the Selkath arrest you. Use dominate mind and make the Selkath arrest her ). Notice how I left out heal. If you’re a soldier/guardian, you should dump your skills into treat injury and demolitions. Treat injury will help you use those thousands of medpacs in the game. 1 last thing…if you are really obsessed with force powers, go download the padawan mod v 1.3 or just save levelups on Taris…I like the padawan mod combined with my Revan skin. Also, Im not sure if this was intentional or not, but during combat, if you click on the party equiptment screen, then scroll down to your medpacs, you can heal yourself in combat without using up a turn. This makes those fights with Bendak quite a bit easier too Anyway…hope that helps ;)
-Zack-
Hmm... seems kinda hard to use only one saber, or it may be because I have normal difficulty settings. Currently I'm on Datooine level 8 soldier and lvl 2 jedi guardian, I kill the kath hounds pretty slow... seems that I have to depend on my companions this time too
Prime
Don't underestimate the single saber. It has a higher attack bonus that the double sabers or light staff. Having a high attack bonus when you fight Malak is a definite advantage...

-Zack-
It seems kinda strange since if you use 2 sabers at once, then you can put crystals into both getting multi-type damage, if you max out 2h weapon fighting then your accuarcy basically doesn't lower at all. Also, you do double damage always and with flurry you do even more hits. Well, actually I don't know about flurry because I used critical hit and power hit usually. DarthBuzzard
Someone did a study and proved that with two urgraded sabers (each had Upari + Sapith) and 1 saber (Upari + Sapith) that single saber does more damage...like I said before, double saber does more damage quickly, and singkle does more damage over time, but in the drawn out battles like Malak, single saber really shines because of the attack and defense bonus, something you don't get with double saber.
