Air units suck

I am still d/ling the demo, but I watched several videos on Gamespot and the Aircraft are STATIONARY when they fire.

 

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!

 

Aircraft don't boot 500 km/h just to halt and start firing. Tie Bombers don't stop and unload their payload, they fly by and let it drop like Napalm.

 

This needs to be fixed immediately. Look at Force Commander, the Air Units were done quite well in the way they looped, circled and strafed targets. The Tie Bombers flew at a decent altitude and unloaded their payloads and got the hell out or circled around for another pass.

 

I sincerely hope that Lucas Arts changes this. All they have to do, is plug in any of the Star Wars movies, any of the Star Wars Games, and see how the Aircraft maneuver themselves when firing.

 

Pff, stopping and firing, what a bunch of crap.

Thats a really good point. The air craft do stop out of no where but you have to remember that the technology to do that exists in the star wars time frame

Don't worry about the bombers, what is odd is that TIEs, Z-95s and X-Wings stand still while in a "dogfight". The TIE Bombers and Y-Wings have got proton torpedoes, which would explain stuff (okay, I know the TIE/B has bombs and the Y/W had them in Rogue Squadron), but only a very arrogant pilot, one houndred per cent sure that nothing could harm his craft, would cut his throttle and sit still while in an aerofight :p!

 

I'll have to suggest for Gaber if he could add some kind of patch or something that spiced up the dogfights a bit :). It may be hard because of the AoK engine, which was never meant to have dogfights at all (Idea: Give the Y-Wings a Trample attack, like the Catapracts in AoK! That way, they'll fly over a target and damage it! Can someone mod the game to add this?).

 

 

Besides from that, though, air units are cool.

I think everything is totally realistic in the star wars universe, if you dont like it then go watch the movies and read the books and youll realize that there totally realistic ALL TH UNITS AND BUILDINGS

Well id rather it be an option. I would be cool to have the units move around while firing but if they stand still they can be jusssttt out of range of that tower with no worries. Moving around may also be good so they can avoid all those incoming missles. It doesn't bother me that much because it seems air units are just used as fear weapons,which they excel at. All of the AA units cant fire at anything else so they can be veiwed as a waste of resources and time. From what I've been hearing those post-tech level 4 air units will be powerful and able to withstand multiple hits. i think I heard it is somewhere in the range of 100 hit points and sheilds? You will need lots of missles to take those down.

Try more like 40 Hp and shields

Well like I said before we dont want another wave of air units like the banshees in tib sun destroying your base that is protected by 30 sams or aa

Once you get into the 4th tech level, with fully upgraded ships, the air units are quite powerful. Two or three bombers can easily take out an anit-air turret, the fighters can destory a small group of soldiers in a few seconds.

Hey guys! Wake up, the fighters and the transports are useful! The Transports take forever to kill, and you can make a map like Black Forest, useless. The fighters are going to be awsome on space maps!
