FpS_Vandal
Hey folks, I'm a big fan of custom gaming. I've done alot of skinning and sounds in the Half-Life realm as far as Day of Defeat goes (and plan to do so for HL2 also!) But that's pretty much my whole experience! I've never had the pleasure of working on any other engine except HL! Some questions: 1.Does SW:BF actually run on the BF:1942/Vietnam engine, or is it just *ALOT* like it? 2.Where are the sound files located in my battlefront folder? and how can I extract them to listen to them/change them? 3.Where are the model files located in my battlefront folder? and how can I extract them to view them/change them? (Is there a model viewer I can use similar to HLMV -Half Life Model Viewer- and what software would I use to add a custom re-skin to a model -besides, obviously Photoshop?-) 4.Does anybody plan on modeling for the game? (IE custom blasters/vehicles?) 5.Is there plans for an ingame custom-file detector/deterrent (like in Unreal 2004, the bane of my custom life!) 6.What format are the sounds in (I'm sure some game format like EA's .BIG for command and conquer) and can they be converted to .wavs and back? (i'd like to get some of the game music on my mp3 player, as well as be able to rip sounds from the Trilogy DVD and put them in the game.) Thanks for your time, any help would be greatly appreciated! Brand new, from scratch engine. Originally posted by FpS_Vandal 2.Where are the sound files located in my battlefront folder? and how can I extract them to listen to them/change them? Considering that no one has the full PC game, no one knows. No one knows. Originally posted by FpS_Vandal 4.Does anybody plan on modeling for the game? (IE custom blasters/vehicles?) I'm sure some people plan on modeling. I don't even know what that is, but I'm guessing no, because I've heard nothing about such a thing. There are a couple devs who hang around here; maybe the devs can answer some of those questions. Stick around and maybe a dev will give you some answers. Whoopknacker
I have the PC version and finding files was easy. However I am not a modder. I hope you can find a team to change the skins in the interiors as well as some of the sounds. They really need it.
FpS_Vandal
Don't need a team, just a few tools and an idea of what type of files each thing uses.

Whoopknacker
This thread references a couple of programs that open lvl files, I think. Anyhow that is the extension they are in LVL Thread
