well

Distortion im not a 100% sure on, but V-Synch stands for Vertical Synchrnization.

basically its and option to synchronise your V hold frames with your Monitors resolution.

people who played Counters strike and half life will know that in order to get say 100 frames per second on a monitor that supports 80hz you turn Vsynch off

if you dont turn V-synch off it limits your frame rate to that of your monitors Hz capability. so it wuld limit it to 80.

however

V-synch turned off may not work correctly on all monitors as it can produce what is known as Tearing on your screen.

so if you experience any tearing distored pictures when moving or something, switch V-sync back on.

other wise, sitch V-synch off and you may eb able to get hgher frame rates.

only if your computer cant handle it it will be slower.

i run everything on high, i have 1gigabyte of DDR Ram, AMd 1900 XP, Gforce FX5900 ultra 256mb DDR, and soundblaster audigy player.

i run it al on high and its smooth as a button.

and these days most people have higher configs than me so you should be able to play the game realy smoothly with everything turned on.

only if u dont meet the requirments wil it run slower
