No head for Bastila

I've played through this game so many times, and thought I'd play through this time as Bastila, so I started looking for head mods, but the only thing I found was an editor where I could change my female character into Bastila, so that's what I did. However, now the real Bastila has no head at all. I've tried giving here another head, tried just letting her keep her own, and we'd just look alike, but it just doesn't work, she still has no head, just empty where her head should be. Any workarounds for this. I really don't want to play through the game again with her having no head at all....

I think this is very simple to do, assuming you know how to mod Kotor. You just have to replace Bastila's head for a PC head an viceversa.

To do so you'll need Kotor Tool to extract a file named appearence.2da. Open this file and you'll see entrys for all the characters in disposed in rows and its appearence characteristicis disposed in columns.

Find the columm named normalhead and look for the numbers in the rows of your female PC (PFsomething) and Bastila (P_bastila, i think).

Just switch the numbers and save your new appearence.2da in the Override folder.

Bioware wrote the game so that unused PC heads could be placed on NPC's to help add to the variety. Since your party NPC are always used, you'll find that none of them have a backup head (the column next to normalhead in appearance.2da).

Since Bastila does not have a backup head, and since the same two heads can't be shown in the same area (with the exception of the generic NPC heads), the game freaks out when you use Bastila's head as your own.

Following Xavier2's instructions will help you to rectify the situation, but I thought understanding the cause might help you to avoid it again in the future.

Oh by the way, likely your save game is corrupted. When you replaced your PC with Bastila head, leaving Bastila headless the savegame incorporated this info and therefore can't change it. In order to make it right you'll have to go back to a savegame set before the first meeting with Bastila.

Hope it'll work

It is correct that the Party npc's have only there normalhead column with there head But if you just copy the number from normal head to backup head the game will run fine. You could make everyone look like bastila if you wanted to.

Check tk102's KotOR Save Game editor thread to learn more.

I've done this, it works very well for such purposes. :)
