A couple of creative, yet practical ideas...

I am a big fan of Return of the Jedi, especially the Sarlacc Pit scene. I was pleased to discover that lucasarts/pandemic finally put the sarlacc pit into one of their games. Yet, the Dune Sea Map is not organized well at all, both in terms of how close it is to the movie and in terms of how practical of a battlefield it is. I lack the talent and expertise to map, but I think we would all appreciate it if someone would create a bigger Dune Sea level that includes:

1) the Sarlacc Pitt far relocated away from the canyons and settlemts, out in the middle of nowhere. Make sure there is a downward slope into the pit(like in the movie). And Jabba's barge should be hovering off to the side. Use the barge included in the Mos Eisely map. You don't need to change the sarlacc included in the game you just need to relocate it so it's more of a pit that one would roll into rather than something that you can stand right next to.

2) Tie bombers for the imperials. The other vehicles can stay also. Y-wings for the Rebels too.

3)Less cramped battlefield overall.

4) Make the map a lot bigger, similar to a bF1942 map. The rebels should start at Luke's house(north) with canyon surrounding their base. Imperials should start near the Jawa sandcralwer again. The Sarlacc Pit should lie in the middle area between the two start points. Make sure there is plenty of room between all of these landmarks, this will be better for bombing, dogfighting, and more realistic to the movie.

I don't expect anyone to actually make a multiplayer map like this but it was just one of the things I think Pandemic could have done a little better on. If anyone is a good mapper, I think myself and other BFers would appreciate your efforts to create one. Thanks!

yeah i know that, but it would still be cool if someone could recreate the pit of carkoon scene, rather than just some sarlacc just kinda sitting on flat ground; watching enemies falling/rolling down a slope with the Sarlacc at the bottom would be great. I guess I'm just a purist.:fett:

Not sure if the sand barge would be big enough to justify a whole map.. maybe if it was docked in a Mos Eiseley docking bay? Kinda like turning the barge area of the current Mos Eiseley map into a level of its own.

Well what I'm saying is that Jabba's sand barge and the Sarlacc would be a neutral zone in the middle of the map. The rebels would start to the north and the Imperials would start towards the South, thus the Sarlacc would be the prime fighting ground although only a small portion of the map. THe sand barge in Mos Eisley could just be placed next to the Sarlacc. The important thing is that you would fall and roll into the Sarlacc Pit, it wouln't just be sitting on flat groumd, it really would be a "pit."

Well if you went by the movie, there would be Jabba's barge and at least one smaller barge and the large skiff around the main pit.

Granted, it would be a smaller map, but cool. You could add more smaller barges and skiffs for variety's sake. I'm also saying you should be able to go on top of and inside the big barges and fly the smaller skiffs and such.

Now we need some models for Jabba's thugs. ; )

To make a Pit of Carcoon map is not that hard. The hardest part will be inserting the Jabba barge from Mos Eisley there, since it's not yet figured out, how to insert new (not pre-drawn) objects into a certain map, which includes exchanging objects between maps.

more realistic example the interior of the stomach of the sarlacc

and the dark troopers( or boba fett) can escape of the sarlacc stromach. Boba Fett has escaped no?

Yeah, he was like half dead though and dengar found him and nursed him back 3 health or something, not really sure.

I just think it's important that if you fell over the edge of the dunes you would roll down the slope into the Sarlacc. In the game the Sarlacc rests on flat ground, in this map I think that the Sarlacc should be at the bottom of a little ditch sort of, you know what I'm talking about. I think it would be extremely difficult to make an interior sarlacc stomach though, mostly because we have no idea what it looks like, but good idea none the less. Although I want most of the focus of the map to be on the Sarlacc, I don't want it to be just the Barge and Sarlacc, I still want it to be a relatively big map. Tusken raiders should definitely be included again. Perhaps someone will eventually make a bantha model/vehicle for the game. The most important spawn point in this level should be on the barge though, it could even be like a crashed jabba's barge, like this was the battle right after luke, han, lando, and leia escaped. Jabba had something on that ship that both the rebels and imps want. It is important that both the rebels and imps start out far away from the pit and barge and there should be a lot of map space devoted to sand dunes so that tie-bombers and y-wings would have wide open spaces for bombing infantry.

well if i remember right this isnt the first game to have a sarlac pit in it, if u remember back to the old game based on episode 1 called "episode 1: jedi power battles" it had a sarlac pit in it too in which u had to jump over, while tuskens were shooting at u, the game was on psx and dreamcast, i only had the psx version, so i cant tell u if the sarlac pit is in the dreamcast version or not but the graphics were way better on dreamcast from the screenshots i did see

Watching my ROTJ DVD again, I guess I was wrong.

In fact, there is ONE Sail Barge in the scene, the big one with two decks. The upper deck seems to be open air (where Leia aims the gun and Luke kills a bunch of guys) and the lower deck where Jabba is and where Threepio runs into R2D2 while he's trying to serve drinks. This barge is also the one where one of the thugs sets up a gun and fires at Han & Chewie.

Then there are two "Skiffs" which seem more or less identical. They're small, big enough for maybe ten people if you really squash them in, to stand on the platform of one.

At the end of the Tatooine segment, they blow up the main barge, and it takes one of the Skiffs (the damaged one) with it, while Lando, Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, and the droids escape in the other one.

The "smaller barges" I was thinking of are actually some of the toys that are out there, which were never in the movie (I had one, it was like a mini cross between the main barge and a skiff).

BUUUUT, for fun's sake you could make the map have more easily.
