You work for the XWA Upgrade, Decoy? Well, nice work on the new OPTs! Very realistic! So, are you going to put all those pipes and bumps on the Y-wing...or just regular texture mapping like the XWA version?

Yes i have been a part of it from the bigining and yes the Y-wing will have some bumps and tubes but thats all i can say right now smile.gif

Finally! Someone's gonna make the Y-wing look real! But I'm sure this is going to make the game lag, will it not? Especially during MP.

It will cause a performance hit, but remember that XWA was released back when - what? - 300 MHz was the top-end? Nowadays, 600 is the norm with quite a few people up into the 800s (and even a few Gigs). I think the extra polys won't cause too much of a problem on today's systems. As for multi lag, the actual models themselves aren't transfered over the net, just the variables (speed, position, angle, etc...). So these new models may cause a performance hit on any particular machine, they won't degrade the lag performance at all (unless the machine-performance hit is causing increased lag in and of itself).

I'm sure they've thought of this...BUT JUST IN CASE!...please make sure the Rebel Fighter patch will be compatible with the NCA patch and vice-versa. It'd be a drag if you can't install it bacause your XWA.exe has been changed by the NCA patch!

NCA patch? What is a NCA patch and how, if possible, do I get it?

Guest OtanaMan

Ms. Talon, I went to the site you told me. I saw many, many nice screenshots at the gun-camera pages, but I still have no idea what it is.

Oh, it probably doesn't matter, anyway...does it? Tell me, someone, will the NCA patch be REQUIRED for the improved OPTs?

I guess you never noticed that many of the ships are not normally in the game!? Fighter like the E-Wing, Phantom-TIE, Naboo ships, etc., or the new Rebel cruiser such as 'Home 1"...or the "Eclipse" Star-Destroyer. (Have another look!) The NCA patch adds a slew of excellent flight models to the game without affecting any of the existing ships. And I do not believe you'll need it for the upgrade.

I see the new ships now. I was wondering why I saw the Phantom TIE. Now, I'm gonna go look for the NCA patch.

Ok, so now that I have new ships available to choose, I was wonder if there was anyway I can hear the engine noise of the ship.

Guest Sheldon

The offset for the engine noises was not found at the time of the NCA Patch 1.2 release, so they are not available. The offset is now available in the one of the newest BinHexEdit modules, but I'm afraid that if I remember correctly, it only works for the first 50 or so slots. frown.gif

Also, I found some problems using the newest module for BHE, so I'm sticking to 1.1.

For those that don't know what I'm talking about, please do not ask here, it is an editing related question and should best be asked at the Editing Forum.. (==for future problems that might or might not exist==)

It's all good now because the site's up again. I thought it was permanently down. Good thing it wasn't.

Wow! I can't believe LEC is being beaten by "non professional" editors! You should go work for them and show them how it should be done! by the way, anothe way to make the laser more realistic is one the X-Wing. When you play next time, when you load up the game and there's that X-Wing chasing that TIE compare it to the ingame sound.
