Tabby
I haven't played xwing alliance in quite a while. A few PC upgrades later, i decided to try it. The radar and targetting reticule, are supposed to be transluscent right? but when i play it now, they're opaque, and just black. I can't see the radar or what's within the targetting reticule. I'm using a geforce2 MX, with the latest drivers, and DirectX 9, on a PIII-733 with 256mb DDR RAM. Does anyone else have this problem?
Wildstar
Don't give up hope, Tabby. I've posted something on MECantina.com linking your original post. I'd help myself, but I've never encountered the problem you described, so I figured someone on the Cantina might have. I will also do the same on the official Totally Games board and see if anyone there has a clue.
Tabby
wow, thanks a lot Wildstar! i hope no one in the cantina "doesn't like me". Since i got no Obi Wan to defend me, hehe. Thanks again, i appreciate the help.
Wildstar
Tabby For fits and giggles, I'm also going to try a post on the LucasArts support forum. As a certain future Jedi Master said during the Battle of Yavin, "Hang on back there!" hehehehehehe
Avitor
What OS version and service pack are you running?
Wildstar
Tabby A friend from other boards (that I didn't post your problem on, but is nevertheless familiar w/ XWA) has 2 questions: 1) What operating system are you running? 2) Do you have hardware 3D acceleration enabled? And I'll ask a third that just came to mind...are you running any sort of mod (custom missions or ship models)? Your answers to these will help. Wildstar
Tabby I've also resorted to posting the question on the gaming board on theforce.net and one of the "gurus" there asked if you've tried running the game at different resolutions. Tabby
thanks. 1) I'm using Windows XP, with Service Pack 1 (although i've been experiencing this XWA problem even before installing SP1). 2) Yes, 3d hardware acceleration is enabled. Although i haven't tried running it at different resolutions with 3d hardware enabled. 3) No i'm not using any mods. The weird thing is, when i turn 3d hardware acceleration off, the problem is still there.
Wildstar
Tabby I'd try running it at a lower resolution. Given your graphics card, I'm figuring anything 1024X786 or higher is forcing the game to use more graphics memory than your card can support and, thus, cause it to not show certain screen elements. Or upgrade your graphics card. I am assuming you have a 4X AGP card, and a GeForce4 card w/ that bus speed would be bargain-priced now.
Tabby
Well, i don't usually go over 800x600 (framerate ruuulez!), but i'm wondering why i could play the game just fine before, yet now it has that transparency problem. I have a hunch it could be a directX 9 issue, maybe my video card coupled with directX 9 don't work well with XWA...
