jon_hill987 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Please help, this is really stupid I know but my keyboard is on the US setting and I cant for the life of me work out how to change it, I'm getting fed up with the keys not matching what they say. I have a HP laptop.
Mex Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Gah, I changed it before and I can't remember how to change it. Sorry. But try looking around in the control panel.
Datheus Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 This is for an XP system. Your milage may vary. Try this: Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages tab -> Details button Then click on the add button to configure a new layout.
jon_hill987 Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 Thanx! I can type £ again! and @ is in the right place. I was looking in the keyboard settings, no wonder I couln't find it. Thanx again.
tk102 Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Only slightly on topic, is my blatant advertisement for KeyTweak which as the author, I shamelessly self-promote. Not to be used maliciously, it's a keyboard remapper.
jon_hill987 Posted December 10, 2004 Author Posted December 10, 2004 Well, I can see why that would be usefull if you really wanted to confuse someone. Is there any other use for it?
tk102 Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Laptops mostly. Also useful for teachers teaching typing classes, people who have use of only one hand, people who hate caps lock, gamers who can't remap their keys otherwise, people who want a Mute button where their Scroll Lock key is, etc. etc. Do you really love your keyboard layout the way it is or would you change something about it? Anyway it's freeware for NT-based OS's.
