not exactly. it is the story about Anakin from the perspective of Artoo and Threepio (more or less).

 

To be very specific here the original concept before it ever got excepted as a script the manuscript for star wars was the story of 2 droids after numerous failed attempts to sell the manuscript to a movie producer as it originally was somebody was nice enough to provide feedback to the original author that it

A: was 2 long and should be shortened

B: nobody would be interested in a story about to androids in the day in age.

 

so taking the advise that was given to him the author went back and broke the story down into 3 pieces the 2nd piece the middle of the story eventually got picked up by George Lucas and produced into 3 movies which were the original 3 movies. Lucas is now doing the 1st piece of the story which is called the prequel trilogy. However that leaves a 3rd piece of the story untold that does not relate to Anakin skywalker at all especially since he dies in the 6th movie.

 

Anakin plays a heavy role in the 2 droids life to begin the story(the prequel trilogy).

But by the middle of the story he plays the role of a villian and of less consequence in there life.(The Original movies)

At the end of the story Anakin plays No role in there story.(The untold movies sometimes refered to as the Shadow years for Luke.)

 

Now if you would like to maintain a false opinion to the contrary that is your perogative however the many different interviews and documentaries done with George Lucas who has said the same thing in a different manner more times than the age of the First Movie would be enough of a supporting argument for me as fact and not opinion.
