Signpost Vanishes In Petrified Forest

Hi,

I'm playing Grim Fandango in Windows XP and I am stuck in the forest - this is not another question about what to do cos I have read the walkthru-I am stuck because the signpost seems to have vanished into thin air! I ran over it a few times, but now I can't for the life of me see it or find where it is. I have done everything else in the forest - dealt with the beavers and the funny tree. Is this a technical glitch? How do I find it?! Thanks

If you've dealt with the beavers, I don't think you need the signpost any more! Unless I've got my puzzles out of sequence, you've done everything you need to in the Petrified Forest - go forth to Rubacava and multiply!

It's been a while since I played the game, but doesn't he need the key to get the gates open? And for that you need the post. I don't remember if it's possible to get the key without dealing with the beavers first, or vice versa, but I'd think so.

 

I lost the signpost once too. Do you mean that you can't find a way back to the place where Glottis was first, or is the post really, really gone?

 

It took me a while before I hit the the right spot and got to the place where the post was. If you've dealt with the beavers, then you must have got some extra bones so you should know where the post is. Or maybe I really have forgotten something important.

Yep I need the signpost to get the key apparently. I can find my way back there. I just cant find the signpost anywhere! It would help if it had icons like Monkey Island but as far as i can tell, the only way to tell if he sees an object is when his head turns and to keep pressing the look button til he finds it. I guess I'm gonna have to do that - I lost it in the centre bit of the wood somewhere, which makes it harder cos he's not in close up, he's tiny on the screen. I'll try going systematically thru the whole lot looking everywhere. Oh what fun!!
