finality
Hi, I just read the tutorial on how to create new items(very nice one btw) and understood more or less everything, my only question is the part with BaseItem[iNT] = 45 in it. Since I'm gonna make a new item I obviously want to rename it etc but won't the game recognize this custom item as the one I modified in order to make a new item since it still has the same baseitem number? If yes, is there a way to completely make a new one instead of replacing an old? Sorry if I understood this all wrong, new to it and all. Thanks for ur time! Note: I haven't downloaded the tools yet but I intended to, after I read through the tutors! I'll have a shot at it tomorrow, wish me luck haha
Darkkender
Okay I think I understand what you are asking but to be clear. Since I'm gonna make a new item I obviously want to rename it etc but won't the game recognize this custom item as the one I modified in order to make a new item since it still has the same baseitem number? The quick and dirty answer is, No. As long as you change your model variation and everything else accordingly as was covered in the tut. The baseitems.2da reference say what category of item the weapon is and how it should be handled by a character holding it. The GFF file/UTI file determines it's stats and how it appears. Now if your using KOTOR Tool to do this there are 2 fields that handle this on the first tab. one is model variation. If all your doing is making a simple change to stats on blaster rifles and the sort then all you need to do is change stats in your new item. If you have made a new model then is when you will need to have to make changes to these fields. I hope this has been better help to you. If you have further questions you can pm me and I'll try to help further.
