Natteravn Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Hi, so, I'm trying to get Grim Fandango to work on my friends computer. The game starts fine, but all the sound stutters so much that it's not really enjoyable to play. I've tried all the things suggested on this forum, installed the patch, compability mode, 16-bit color, running the whole game from the HD, and disable Hyper-threading. Also, tried with both enabled/disable 3D-acceleration in the game. But whatever I do, there's no change. What am I doing wrong here? Would greatly appreciate if anyone would have any solution to this problem. - NightRaven
Tall Guy Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 what sound card to you have? what are your system specs?
Shuz Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 You could try reducing sound acceleration. To do this go to Run and type dxdiag. Go to the sound tab and reduce sound acceleration a notch and try the game. If it doesnt work, reduce it by another notch etc.
realmo6 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I've got the same HL2 and Counter-strike Source after I installed service pack 2. Echoing stuttering sound. Very annoying. Tried to Lower the hardware acceleration. Lower the visual performance. Nothing works. It worked before perfectly, so why won't it work now? Service crap 2 my ass.
ElvesBrew Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Have you tried turning Compatibility Mode off since you disabled Hyper Threading in the PC BIOS? EB
gringolingo Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I found that directly running GRIMFANDANGO.EXE instead of the launcher Grim.EXE fixed it for me. You don't need to run in compatibility mode. Bonne Chance!
