importing kotor models to gmax

right, i have gmax and the appropriate plugin (NWmax) for using kotor models, but i dont know how to actually get the models from the games files to modify them for practise, and experiment. I know that it has something to do with MDlops but i cant seem to work it out. If anyone could explain to me how to do this id appreciate it, cos i cant seem to find a modding tutorial that tells you how to get the models in the first place!

thanx in advance... ;)

In KotOR Tool, under BIFs, there is models.bif. I have a very old version of KT, but in mine, I have to select Tools: Options: Build Model BIF node in Tree to get it to populate.

You can extract the .mdl and .mdx files from that node and then follow this tutorial.

In the current version of Kotor Tool, just double-click on the desired model, configure the options on the form that comes up (generally all unchecked) and it will extract all of the files needed to the Kotor Tool working directory (where Kotor Tool is installed)
