[TSL]Quick weapon/armor modding question.

Alright, since we all know TSL has a different upgrading system than kotor 1, can someone tell me how to make an item(i.e. weapon or armor) non-upgradeable? I'm working on a little mod, but I'd like the make the lightsaber non-upgradeable.

Not quite.. that just makes it freeze when you try clicking on saber color cystal at the upgrade screen.

But there are certain items like Freedon Nadd's Short Lightsaber that dont even appear on the upgrade menu. That's what I'm looking for.

the easiest way would be to extract Freedon Nadd's Short saber via Kotor Tool and then simply change it's base item from short lightsaber to regular lightsaber, now for any items, I believe that you just need to make sure it doesn't have properties that require an upgrade, KotOR 1 style.

I suppose I could try that with the saber.

As far as items go, it doesnt work that way either. Since with the new system, the upgrades hold the values themselves, the items no longer hold upgrade values. That's pretty much how they were able to make different upgrades with different stats that fit into the same slot.

In the first game, the upgrade items themselves had absolutely no stats, and were just 'activators' to 'hidden stats' on items.

Let me field this here cause I think I know what your talking about.

When you extract the uti file with kotor tool, open it in an external GFF editor in there you will find a field marked upgrade level set this field to "0". That will make any item non-upgradeable. I suggest this method as I am unsure if Fred has implemented this feature in KOTOR tool yet. The different upgrade levels for the different item types are what determines what type of upgrades it can handle. I believe all Lightsabers are "3" for upgradeable and "0" for non-upgradeable.

You can probably confirm this by comparing the Freedon Nad lightsaber in a GFF editor to a standard lightsaber.
