pianoben
Hi, I'm sure that this question must have been addresed before, but I can't find it in the 60-something pages of posts that I can find. KotOR1 seems to be passe, but any help would be greatly appreciated by a novice modder. So, what I'm trying to do is create a side-quest involving Yoda, who is imprisoned in a Mysterious Box in the Kashyyk Shadowlands. I've gotten the box to spawn, the scripts are all firing, and all of that stuff is working. My problem is that, for whatever reason, Yoda won't talk to me. His tag (and the Template ResRef) is "n_yodaman", as is the .utc filename. The dialogue is referrenced, as far as I can tell, entirely correctly. What happens is that, when I first enter the copied Rakatan Prison module, although Yoda spawns in the proper place, the only thing he'll do is turn to face me. No dialogue at all. Afterwards, he won't even turn anymore. I'm thinking that, perhaps, there are some hard-coded restrictions on actions in this particular module (most keyboard commands don't work, like the Esc key). Can anyone confirm this, or if not, suggest a way to get this dialogue running? Thanks a bunch.
Keiko
Did you even give Yoda a dlg?
Darth333
Originally posted by pianoben I'm thinking that, perhaps, there are some hard-coded restrictions on actions in this particular module.... No, all the modules work the same way. Obviously there is something wrong with your .dlg file. Did you do it from scratch or you used an existing .dlg file that you modified? And finally, with what did you edited the .dlg? Did you referenced the .dlg in the conversation field of your npc's utc?
pianoben
re: DarthSmallz Yes, I did give Yoda a dlg, appropriately titled "yoda.dlg". I did leave out the ".dlg" in the .utc conversation resref field. re: Darth333 I created the dialogue from scratch, using KotOR Tool, as it seemed to have the functionality of DLGedit with more simplicity. I could be very wrong on that one, though. I'll try it again with DLGedit. Thanks, Darth, for clearing up the module question. But would you have any idea why, when I warp to it, most of the keyboard functions (except for warping) don't work? Anyhow, thanks for the prompt replies. Xcom
I don't think dlg file is the issue (unless it's totally messed up). IIRC, That prison box was weird module. There can be some flag set there that can prevent player from escaping or using controls or something. I'm particularly thinking about "Unescapble 1" in the ARE file. Okay, when you made your Yoda's utc file, how did you actually make it? Did you just copy existing g_brakatan003.utc, renamed it and changed appearance.. or copied from somewhere else? Look in the UTC file, event scripts fields. Make sure it doesn't run some weird scripts OnSpawn, OnHeartbeat, OnDialogue The default ones (for mentioned events are respectively) k_def_spawn01 k_def_heartbt01 k_def_dialogue01 Also make sure FactionID is 5 (neutral).. or friendly.
