Max_horsepower
Hi I'm very new to moding so bear with me. My plan is to modify one of the existing appearence file I have downloaded kotor tool and have extracted a tpc file. I then edited the apperience using Photoshop then converted it into a tga file. My question is how do i get this new appearence to work in kotor? Is there something I need to change in the apperance.2da file? I am wanting to use this appearance as my main character. If you have any suggestion I would appreciate it. Also if this question could be answered from a previous post, I would like direction to where it is. Prime
If you are looking to replace an existing file, you need to create an Override folder in the KOTOR main directory, if there isn't one there already. Then simply place your edited file in the Override directory. Files are picked up automatically from in there and replace the originals.
Max_horsepower
I edited the Pmhb01 file and saved it as a tga file. I then put it in my overrive folder. When I started a new game the portrait i edited wasnt available. What i want to do is simply apply a change to the face of one of custom character portraits. Tupac Amaru
PMHB01 isn't used for the pc by default. You can check heads.2da and appearance.2da which heads are available at character generation and make changes there.

Max_horsepower
I copyed my tga picture into override folder and extracted the heads.2da file and put it in the override folder. what else is needed to make my edited appearence work? Thanks Max
Tupac Amaru
I think it is easier with appearance.2da. The file you edited is a backuphead for the first of the black PCs. Put it in the normalhead row instead.
Max_horsepower
ok I got the modify head to show up. I have one more question what is the easiest way to modify the body of the chararter? Thanks Max
Jeff
You don't really modify the body as much as what clothes/armor he or she has on. You can go about reskinning the clothes the same way you reskin a head, use photoshop or whatever you use and just put whatever designs you want on them. Then just save it as what you want it to replace and place it in the override directory. Hope that helps!
