Reading the Illustrated Screenplay...

i just ran into a scene in the screenplay that - i think - harkens back to a line stated in TPM.

palpatine and anakin are ...

watching the calamari play "Squid Lake", and the chancellor is telling anakin the story of darth plagueis. it is said that he (plagueis - sidious' master) was SO POWERFUL AND SO WISE HE COULD USE THE FORCE TO INFLUENCE THE MIDICHLORIANS TO CREATE LIFE ...

could this fact, and shmi skywalker's claim to qui-gon that anakin's father is unknown, somehow be related? is annie a product of this?

I was always under the impression that the Force had a will of itself, and that is why it (the Force) created Anakin in order to fulfill its own motives (restore balance to the Force).

Oh well, it's GL's sandbox, he can mold the sand however he likes.

^^ sure, i'd thought of that as well. but seeing as palpatine has these 'disposable' apprentices, and is always looking to get one which is more powerful than the previous, i wouldn't be surprised if palpatine (or even plagueis for that matter) had a hand in this.

Most likely, Palpatine is lying to get Anakin to join the darkside. Rember what Yoda said at the end of AotC : "Lie and deceit are the ways of the Sith" or something like that...

At the end of RotS, Yoda will tell Obi-Wan the only way to acheive eternla life is through compassion, not hate, and that the Sith will never be able to acheie it.
