Hannibal
I agree with Prime. Why review something if you going to leave out a very important aspect. What's the purpose of a review? To let potential buyers know about the ins and outs of the game. If bugs are part of that I'd like to know.
montnoir
I agree with Prime. Why review something if you going to leave out a very important aspect. Methinks you and Prime didn't pay attention when reading my post. Because of the patches that come out in between after 1-3 months. In the case of Blizzard, patches still come out after 1-3 years... Say a bug forces you to use a handgun when you equip your shotgun. The reviewer naturally writes "this game is so bug-ridden that when you choose your shotgun you switch to a puny handgun". The reader then reads and thinks "Crap, if the shotgun is broken, then I won't buy this game" a week later a patch comes out that addresses this issue and you can play with a shotgun as normal. No more "shotgun bug". But the review is still written and up there for everyone to read and then the review would be providing false information. And as I wrote earlier in my previous post. This is a pc issue. As console games are practically impossible to patch, then indeed - the bugs should be reported in the review.
Hannibal
Exactly, and since console sales far out weigh PC sales it's important to mention bugs since theirs no fixing them. I read your whole post (you have wonderful penmanship ). Games like this get the majority of their sales from consoles(as do other multi-platform games). An audience that doesn't get patches. Makes you wonder why people just don't switch to PCs. Patches, mods...
lukeiamyourdad
Makes you wonder why people just don't switch to PCs. Patches, mods... The same reason why humans are stupid Naw, they're just looking for something easy to play. Consoles are plug-and-play fun. PC is for more advanced users. Hannibal
I will never buy another Shiny game, ever. The best of this game is the Burly Brawl. Everything else goes from being just ok to "they could have left it out." The FMV quality goes from good to terrible. It's as if they paid 3 different companies to do the FMV for them and didn't care about matching the look of the videos. The game wasn't terrible. It was fun but it was real disappointing. Enter the Matrix's graphics were...( I was going to say better but I'll say more stable). The little interupt at the end by the W brothers was odd too. Also there seems to be no real difference in the difficulty settings.
Prime
Methinks you and Prime didn't pay attention when reading my post.Oh, I payed full attention. I just think you are wrong. Because of the patches that come out in between after 1-3 months. In the case of Blizzard, patches still come out after 1-3 years... If the patches come out. Many games do not have any patches at all, and when a game is bought there is no way of knowing if and when potential patches will be available, nor what they will fix. But the review is still written and up there for everyone to read and then the review would be providing false information.Horse****. If the game is broken at its release, players need to know that. It is just as false to say that a game is good when it is completely bug-ridden. At least a review that says a game is buggy can be updated to say that there were patches released that fix x, y, and z. Are reviewers going to back and say, "Remember that game we said was awesome? Well, it turns out that game sucks because of no or bad patches. But wait, you already knew that because you bought the game because of this review. Suckers." If reviewers aren't going to judge a game as it is in its current state, they need to call it a PREVIEW. And they have to be clear that what they are claiming is what the game may or may not be at some indeterminant point in the future. If a patch is released, people can compare the date of the review to the release date of the patch and see if the review is still relavent. Why should a review be the priority? To me, there are many reasons why a reviewer should report that a game is buggy. The whole point of a review is to inform the potential customer about what they are actually buying. Also, companies should be discouraged from the mentality of "we'll release a half finished game and clean it up later." If the game isn't finished, it shouldn't have been released as a finished product.
Hannibal
Here's a good Gamespy review that IMO is extremely accurate. PON Review I forgot to mention I got the XBox version and the sound effects are bad. The action will start up bullets flying and punches being thrown and there will be absolutely no sound. Then all of the sudden it will come on. From playing this game I've decied that Shiny either has no Quality Testing area or doesn't care about the quality of their work. The game had a lot of promise too. Just like the Gamespy review I agree that the Reloaded missions are the best part of the game.
Mono_Giganto
I can say without hesitation that most people who paid $50 of their hard-earned money for this game will feel like they just got a giant middle finger pointed at them in bright green Matrix code once the credits roll. I don't feel like paying 50 bucks for this game after reading that review, but I am curious as to what they meant by that.
Hannibal
Rent it and find out. If anyone wants to know PM me. It's amazingly stupid(slightly funny). The alternative ending wasn't that bad but...I won't say anymore.
