Lilt
What's the best thing to do if you're in a "chicken" (i.e. head to head) situation? I'm only on the second training mission of the first Tour of Duty - "starfighter superioroty evaluation" where you have to destroy all the oncoming TIE's, first by yourself, then with one wingman and then with a whole squad. Lilt
While I'm here I might as well ask: what'd be the best joystick to get for this game and any future star wars piloting games? I'm using a 2 button - Tornado logic 3 - with auto fire (oooo ). Trouble is, the x and y axis' are simply inconfigurable...meaning I can never fly in a straight line Is a Microsoft Sidewinder Pro worth getting or should I go for a logitech? I'm not after force feedback...just plenty of buttons and an unbustable joystick
harvickrules01
I have the Microsoft Sidewinder Pro. w/ Force Feedback, and it RULES! You really only use the throttle and trigger. aZnJedi588
I like my USB one because you don't have to calibrate it.

First off, you have to know a few things about your opposing craft. 1. Does it not have shields (then they will ahve double charged lasers) 2. Does it have shields taht are charging (AI pilots allways get thier shilds to 200% first. Which means if they are charging they will not have double charged lasers) 3. Does it have shields at 200%? (You will go against a craft with Double charged lasers, and it will not break off after taking a few hits.. very dangerous) Depending on the AI level, they will start firing from about .5km to 1.25km when moving lasers have a max range of around 1.5 to 1.7 depeding on your speed. As you target the nearest craft, line up your crosshairs on him, maybe figureing out where the number 2 guy is. Just as your crossairs goes green fire off a shot, and try to do the same to #2. As you get closer, make sure you are NOT goign h2h with an AI, you will normalyl lose since they have a better accuracy in h2h, and tend to go to single fire. Once you are in thier range, break off so they are attacking you at a 90 degree angle. the AI cannot do defelction shooting very well (hitting your side profile), ocne your Rectile warnign light goes off, pull aroudn and take them out on thier 6 O'clock. Happy blasting, and clear ether!
Francisco Jiménez
A good tactic if there is two enemies in the flight is to target the ship Nº 2 and storage the target, then target the leader and fire upon him at max range. When he has been hit a few times and begins to break the approach, take the pre-selected target and nail him!!!
BattleDog
Depends how good you are, if your real good and you got missiles target him, line up then turn the computor off (Ctrl+C) then dumb fire if your head to head and you got it right you can hit a Tie at two klicks, then play chicken the way K told you to. P.S. I use a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D. ------------------
Lilt
All sounds a bit complicated 1st off I got to replace my stick though 'cos at the moment, I can't fly in a straight line... I've tried and tested the breaking off idea but the TIE Interceptoprs still manage to gun me down...with only about 5 direct shots. I was thinking of concentrating shields fully to the front but I still seem to die If I'm having trouble now, what's the likelihood I'll be getting much further I'm goin' for a Microsoft Precision Pro 'cos it seems to be the best deal locally > let me know if it'd be a mistake to buy it Thanks for the help
K_Kinnison
make sureyou are going faster then 90 MGLT and make sure to be FULLY broken away by the time thy come into range, if you take a film of it, all the enemies shots would be passing behind you
