BumpMapping tutorial?

No unfortunately this is something I have tried a number of times on various mods and even on custom made models assigned bump maps in the proper mapping slot but it never showed in game . Not having the devs help with this one it’s just a guessing game, however if you know of anyway take a stab at it maybe you will figure it out

 

My best guess is it’s dot3 and with the help of a .DDS photoshop plug in from Navida you may be able to replicate the other few bump textures in game, the channels look very odd to me when I was inspecting them closely.

 

I believe the .DDs filter can be used to output a bumpmap of your texture

With the advice of svösh, I made an attempt to get a working Bumpmap for a hilt I modeled for an update to my Revan's mask plus mod, unfortunately I haven't been able to get it to work in game. As far as we both can tell I made mine the same as the game bumpmaps, but I keep getting an error "invalid Bumpmap <texturename."

 

From looking at the games bumpmaps in KT I think were missing some vital texture information that makes it work. KT only shows some garbage in the txi info box.

Have anyone look at the file size?

 

For normal texture files: on export tga and tpc are different size

ok until now

BUT

for bump textures: tga and tpc are same size

more then that!

I load in photo editor tga bump texture and save-it (no modif, only save)

The saved tga is smaller than original

on difference examimation I find this

I don't want to be annoying but this is fun

better than a sidequest

Is that an unmodified tga or tpc?

 

tga (I don't know how to open tpc files)

On export tga have same size with exported tpc (diferent content)

Strange is how it "lose" almost 1/3 from content on save (again, no modification made)

In that way I learn how to make procedural textures and what need to put in .txi files to set bumpmap.

All I need is how to make a bump textures and what type of files need to be because tga and tpc files won't work
