do troops gain experience? and is it possible to abandon your spaceship/vehicle to let the crew of it take cmd of another ship/vehicle?

Troops do not gain expirience over time, however they are available in the next battle should they survive the first. Lucasarts decided to exclude veterancy for units, for reasons i do not know..

 

It might be possible that the rebels got some troops that can take command of another viechle in space, since they do have those troops on ground. in fact chewbacca is quite cabable of taking over imperial viechles anyways, i dont think theyll be able to pull it of in space, but who knows.. ahh thats right, the producers

vetrancy would be wasted most of the time because someone who surived one battle wouldnt survive the next so it makes no sense to waste coding on adding it.

I hope you can get boarding craft that way you can defeat a larger force.

That'll probobly be an expansion or something for the boarding craft. They'll have to get the stormtrooper transports and ATR's from TIE Fighter in the game:D

Yeah, well, those boarding seems unlikely against big capital ships which is what players usually want to pull off.

 

Anyway, I find it sad that there's no veterancy. It's one of those things that incites you to keep your units alive. Oh well...

we havent been told a decisive yes or no yet as to if we can capture enemy ships.

We better be able to capture enemy ship!

It would make it a hell of alot easier as the Rebels if you were able to capture Star Destroyers.

The lack of veterancy is dissapointing but THrawn((9 is right. Only the really big ships eg. ISD, Mon Cal cruisers etc would survive long enough to gain veterancy so it would be pointless anyway.
