DanteRenEvo Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS Should start the d3d work very shortly, and with proper file specs, could probably have a converter written soon as well. Importer, not yet, still have some things i need to figure out with the format, but for showing it in a small d3d window, im good to go. Will keep posting updates.
GhOsT-Jedi Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Sorry I suck at things like this, so can you give me a idea on what all that means? thanks
Iamme Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 GJ: It is/will be for viewing/extracting .alo files, apparently.
Epytron_Omega Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 this is awsome, I will definitly keep my eyes out for this little treasure. EO
DanteRenEvo Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 viewing and exporting, not extracting. going to try to support some popular simple formats, haven't investigated this yet though.
Iamme Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 er, I meant exporting XD Congrats, though, this is great great progress. PS: If you manage to enable importing of models to .alo before the 16th I would.. something good.
Epytron_Omega Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 going to try to support some popular simple formats, haven't investigated this yet though. so I assume that one of the most common you will be using is .3ds? I hope that it is, only because that is what almost every model program uses. EO
Epytron_Omega Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 either one works for me, Im not saying everyone will be happy with one or the other, but its a start. Keep up the good work. EO
DanteRenEvo Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 sure will, did some of the preliminary directx work tonight, getting there, still got some tweaks here and there though...
MDN14 Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I dont know much about how to make thigns like this, but why couldnt you make it so you could export it as a .3ds OR a .obj? Maybe not right away, but maybe in its second release or something at least? That would make alot more people happy.
Epytron_Omega Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Its turning out great, I cant wait for the release. BTW, Dante, I have sent you a PM, please read it. EO

DanteRenEvo Posted February 1, 2006 Author Posted February 1, 2006 More work on it tonight, got some more items programmed, and some of the d3d optimized. Added a screenshot button for debug, might keep it, might not. So far its looking pretty good, some of my next tasks are applying the effects, but i have some variables i need to set first, so that they are rendered properly. I also need to create a default light, in order for some of the normals etc... that need to be applied to work. Anyway, here is another pic, notice the rancor has his hands and feet, this is 2 different meshes in the same model, took me a bit to get that working lol.
CondarF Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Thats excellent work there Dante... just a quick question, did you ever work on Star Wars Rebellion?
