ABCoLD
Has anyone put up a tutorial on how to recolor a lightsaber blade? I pretty much have everything down on how to actually replace the blade with a custom file. But I'm having real trouble figuring out how to actually alter it in a way that doesn't look like a steaming pile of rancor droppings. A nice little picture of the blade 'dot' and little arrows pointing out where various layers are going to show up on the blade would be nice. An explanation of how to replace the 'glow' around the outside without making it a big glob would be cool too. I've really tried on my own, but all I end up with a nasty looking, indistinct blade that that has very defined planes if you look at it top down. (I'm betting this is from overextending the outer edge glow.) So, anyone have a tutorial on how to do this? Anyone?
Achilles
1) Extract the saber blade color that you want to replace using KotOR Tool 2) Open up the file in an image editor (following instructions will be for Photoshop CS) 3) Shift+ctrl+U to desaturate the image 4) Pick your color from the swatch 5) Hit G on your keyboard to select the paintbucket tool. 6) Make sure mode is set to Color (you can also use Overlay for a different look) and that opacity is 100% 7) Click on the image to apply the color to the file. 8) If you like the result, save to override. 9) Done. ABCoLD
Alright, I also have the options of Opacity, Tolerance Anti-Alias, Contiguous and All Layers What should I do about them? Also, where should I click on the image to fill? This does matter.
Achilles
I believe I addressed opacity in the first reply. Leave the other settings alone. Nope it does not matter.
Rain128
can this also be done with the USM type sabers?? or will that mess up the hilts?
Darkkender
Yes it can be done with USM type sabers. It can be done with any saber as all of the tga's for blade color are setup the sameway when it comes to how the gameengine handles it.
