Tactical or Strategy?

Battlestar

Recommended Posts

I haven't gotten the game yet (gotta wait for payday) anyways in the meantime I've been doing some looking online what people think of the game and at numerous places I've heard the game described as more of a tactical game than a strategy game.

Do you guys agree with this asessment? Aren't the 2 types kinda similar?

Well, i haven't got the game as well. However from what i know i would i agree that it's more of a tactical game. It sure has some strategic value on the galactic map but the focus of the game is on the battles. A pure strategy game would be Galactic Civs, in which you have no control over your ships and you concentrate on managing your empire.

In terms of the difference between the two:

Stategy: overall management of an entire campaign, including logistics

Tactics: elements and management of forces in a battle

So in the sense that the developers made a choice to cut away as much resources management and focus on battles, you could say it is more tactical. However, there are still strategic elements such as building up the planets and space stations under your control, as well as choosing what units to produce.
