[MOD] EAW: Open Conflict

No it's not just you... but I don't have any chance (yet?) to define the build queue of the AI. Besides the fortified mining stations produce much less income, so if you build normal ones like the AI and defend them you're still better off and can build ships faster. The fortified bases are mostly for those who hate to look after their mining bases all the time. And that mostly is the case for human players... the AI does always have the whole battlefield in view.

I am back again. I plan to install EaW again on my new PC. I assume the 1.0d is the last version. But I have a question. Do I really need the 1.04 patch? From what I have read it is mostly for MP, but I play SP only and with this MOD only :) So I would stick with 1.02 patch.

 

Oh and I see that nobody has tested the resised version yet. I will try it. What should I look at? Better gamespeed? But I only play GC 43 maps. Does it matter?

O.K. So I installed the 1.0d with the resize addon. The problem is I do not remember how big were ships before. But so far it looks good. I like those small fighters. But I can not say if the game lags less as I play on a completely new PC and the game runs like hell on max settings (well the ground combat are still a bit slow sometimes, but that is because 6600GT is not the most powerful graphics card available).

 

Now something I have came across. I play as the Empire.

 

1) Those 3 Tartans I started with are useless. Completely. So I had to build a research center an go to lvl2 to build better ships (Acclamators). I spend nearly 10 minutes of game being unable to do anything. But on the other side, AI seems to be unable to progress as well. Well now they started to progress, so I hope it will continue to progress.

 

2) I can build a missile cruiser again. I thought it was removed. Can you please remove it again? It is the most stupid unit in the game, unrealistic, overpowered...

 

3) Mara Jade seems to be working, but her description is missing. Not a big problem though.

 

4) I met Home One on lvl2 again. Can you please move it to a higher level? It is an ultimate unit now as I do not have anything to counter it with.

 

5) I almost forgot. In space battles, ships are shooting asteroids for an unknown reason. Is it deliberate, or is it a bug?

 

So this is what I discovered.

 

EDIT: Hmm, I wonder where everybody is.

For me, that seemed to only happen in the largest map (Galactic Conflict I think), in the rest of the maps the rebels progress normally.

Happened to me too, you get Home One at lvl 4 usually I think, I think the rebs research progress is way faster. I just let him take the planet he's aiming for, once he moves on I take it back. the cycle contimues until I get Tarkin and a few Vics.

It's some sorta bug.

O.K. Another problem. I can build only one Interdictor cruiser. Is it deliberate or another bug? And the AI really has problems progressing on the largest map. Unfortunatelly I play only the largest maps. I will try to play as Rebels now.

They progressed fairly well in the second largest map (Empire at War).

 

In the largest one (Galactic Conflict) I noticed that while I was Imps, the Rebels attacked me the second in had a planet next to one of theirs. Another way is, like someone suggested, to increase the amount of starting credits the enemy has through XML editing.

 

 

 

 

And yes, you only get one Interdictor......try to keep it out of harms way lol. Don't know if it's a bug or not.

Hmm, I have just played for Rebels and the Empire is building hunderds of Tie Scouts. The game is galactic map is terribly laggy. It has improved a bit as I destroyed about 70 Tie Scouts in the last two battles. Is there some way to reduce the ammount of scouts built?

 

Oh and I have also tried a little bit of modding. I have discovered an excellent graphics MOD called Bailknightgraphicsmod. It is really good, but it only enhances graphics, the gameplay is stil the same. So I am trying to combine Addoney's MOD with this MOD. I hope I can do this. But it is really hard to change all those XMLs. So all modders gained even more respect as I cen now see that even the smallest of MODs is really hard to make.

Will this Mod ever be updated again ?

 

I can't play without it in Skirmishes mostly, I really like it. I'm just wondering if it's kinda "dead" right now ? In other words, Adonnay, do you think you're gonna add anything or change anything to it ?

 

Because right now the only Mod I think is worth using is yours, and waiting for the "big ones" is killing me.

Hey there

I'm surprised that this thread and this mod are even beeing looked at. I mean it's pretty old already and has no new ships. I'm glad you like(ed) it of course... but aren't there any newer, better, larger mods out yet?

 

Not really yours is still the best. I'm really hoping you'll come back and update this mod for FOC.
