Gam
Units that need to go: 1) TIE mauler. Cheap. Numerous. Irritating as hell. Overpowered to an incredible degree. The AI just takes these and runs over your infantry with them. If the maulers run into vehicles, the AI just self-destructs them and takes your vehicles with them. Freaking irritating, and ridiculous too. This unit could be removed, and the AT-ST's infantry attack increased-- after all the AT-ST is pretty damned good at anti-infantry in the movies. 2) Broadside Cruiser and (to a lesser extent) Marauder Corvette. When you're the rebellion, the AI just takes their Broadside Cruisers and blows the hell out of all your fighters. It totally makes even having fighters useless, because they last about 5 seconds. Add to this that nothing even remotely like these units has been seen in the movies or the EU, and you have a recipe for removal. Units that are totally useless: 1) T2B tank: sucks against everything, and can be blown up by anything more powerful than a rock. 2) Alliance Starfighters: Only Y-wings are useful. X-wings and A-wings are useless-- they are blotted out in a second by Tartan Cruisers or Broadside Cruisers, and take longer to eliminate enemy fighters than Corellian Corvettes do. Any ideas? I think the Alliance starfighters are TOTALLY underpowered, considering their prominent role in the movies. They are about as strong as TIEs when it comes to being shot at by Tartan Cruisers and the like. It makes them frustrating to even use.
Admiral Z
Lol, I think all the units are useless. Let's take control of ewoks and throw stones at each other.
popcorn2008
Just because units are strong doesnt necesarily mean that they need to be removed. I really like the broadside and maurador.
BuCkEt!
Wow, maybe tactics might work! :shockhorror: Ok, bitter and sarcastic attitude aside; TIE Maulers: I've completed the full galatic map as the Rebels and TIE Maulers presented no problem whatsoever. Yes they squished my infantry if I put them infront of my tanks, but who the hell does that anyway? Take some Plex launchers and stick them just behind your heavy armour, whenever Maulers come close just select the Plex (which you should have hot keyed) and annihilate the maulers. If they start going red and getting ready to explode just concentrate firepower on them and it won't blow up big. Broadside Cruisers: Again, I had no problem against these, infact they suck the hairy hoohah against fighters and are sitting ducks against anything. Their use is to sit far back and just pummel space stations or capitol ships. They rock at taking out hardpoints as I think their missiles go through shields. Corvette class ships: Yes these annihilate fighters, but hey, that's what they're supposed to do! If you don't want your fighters to die, keep them away from Tartans/Gunships/Corvettes. First thing I do in an engagement is destroy my enemies anti-fighter ships so that my fighters have a better chance of survival. However, I still agree with you that the accuracy of the anti fighter ships needs to be lowered a little bit. A group of bombers should be able to take out a Corvette with no problems. I did it in X-Wing Alliance all the time T2-B, I used these as cannon fodder to stop the Imperials from getting to my arty which just destroys everything. BuCkEt!
(Yes I'm aware I'm now double posting but it's cos I'm at work and I can only read the forums via the print version mode.) Also, with the T2Bs, they're repuslor lift craft so you can use them to flank the enemy on a lot of the maps with water, perfect for sneaking in and taking out factories that spit out heavy units. AETOS75
No unit is useless. Every unit has its goal and its purpose. Except maybe Artillery(which beats nearly everything) the counter system WORKS great.
Guest DarthMaulUK
I'm closing this. Why? Some of these posts about units being useless and too over powered are becoming dull. I strongly suggest that people learn to play the game first before making such posts in the future. DMUK
