jediturkey
Playing rebels ... I can only seem to win space fights on easy. Love the game, but wow it's hard. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there a good strategy guide for the game? Thank you. Hrm .. wierd.. I guess my computer runs the game so fast, slowing it down (second notch to the left) makes it playable on medium. =
popcorn2008
Empire at War is very fast paced. More so than any strategy game I have ever played. If your having problems try practicing in the skirmish mode of the game as it allows experementing with units. Just remember to use units that are strong against other units. For example, use Maurador Cruisers against space stations and corellian corvettes against imperial fighters. And by the way, avoid double posting by using the edit button in your posts. Cheech Marin
You should also keep in mind that the AI does NOT use Fog of War. Therefore you can forget about trying to hide units in asteroid fields or nebulas.
DarthMuffin
The game makes a really extensive use of "counter units" (more so than any RTS I have played. As far as I am concerned, I think it's a bit too extreme, but you gotta do with what you have. Keep the quick reference card with you when you play, and always use the correct counter units. I know this sounds a bit dumb to say, but it really does make a difference.
jediturkey
I see what you mean now. Yah, the counter units are a bit excessive. The counter units should be able to do more damage to their counters but it shouldn't be so black and white. Thanks for the tip guys. I just won an entire planet against the Empire -- destroyed their space station, came back, destroyed a bunch of destroyers, then took the planet. Weee! jediturkey
I'm playing on medium now. It just takes a lot of time to build up defenses. I was spreading my forces too thin across several planets.
Tom Servo
Yes the early game is pretty much hit and miss with the planets, but once you get a good force you`ll want to establish a line of defense with 3-4 planets causing a bottleneck so you can focus on small points on the map and not attack 20 planets at the same time. Nakatomi2010
Also make use of two or three pronged attacks... When I advanced in space I took advantage of the fact that the planets aren't ALL reveal until later, so when I launched attacks I'd line up my forces then move them out on the enemy two or three planets at a time, this didn't leave me open to attacks since my units would essentially go in, attack, win on three different planets that now needed to be retaken in order to attack me, which were also defended by the same fleet as before...
