Miltiades
I have Kotor1 for almost 2.5 now, and never had problems. Last year, I bought an ATI X800 Pro card. Still, no problems. But now I get a problem. When I start a new game, or the player goes to a new area, there are like stripes, but not real stripes. And it's flashing. When I go to my desktop and go back to the game, then the problem is solved. I'm not sure, but maybe it has something to do with the Catalyst Control Center. I've updated revently, and I'v changed some things (following the guide of Oblivion from Tweakguides). Can someone please help me?
stingerhs
are you trying to force Anti-Aliasing or Antistrophic Filtering through the drivers??
Miltiades
You mean using the Catalyst Control Center?
stingerhs
yep. i noticed that you had things tweaked for Oblivion, and i specifically remember one of the tweaks was to use the video driver settings to force Antistrophic Filtering since the game doesn't offer the feature. i also remember a user that had AA and AF forced via driver settings a while back that was causing similar graphics issues. Miltiades
I'm not sure if that's the problem. With AA and AF I let the application decide. Maybe it has something to do with the Refresh rate. I recently set it to 85 Hz.
stingerhs
hmm, i never heard of the refresh rate giving people problems. try switching the refresh rate to a couple of different settings (that your monitor can support) and also try switching the V-Sync option on and off to see if that helps. Miltiades
The refresh rate's on 85 Hz, both in Control Center and in the game-options. I tried switching it to 60 Hz in the game-options, and then the game takes only half, or maybe less of the screen. And I can't see the Exit button, and can barely see the options button. So it has nothing to do with being windowed, or a wrong resolution. And I've been trying every combination (60 Hz in game-options and control center, 60Hz in game-options and 85Hz in control center, ...) Anyway, I'll try the V-Sync option. Edit: Just want to say the problem was indeed caused by switching off V-Sync.
