On spinning anims

You know how unrealistically annoying it becomes when you're doing a spin move eg. Diagonal attack followed by strafe attack, and then someone whacks you and you stop abruptly and go into a block animation? I thought of something that could possibly remove this unrealism

 

Since the spin anim transitions are hardcoded, would it be possible to code it such that during the interval of a spin, your animation will never change, so you will not go into a block animation?
