Its the big collar thing that's being worn in all three pictures that also goes over the shoulders and round the back of the head...

 

Could it be done as a piece of headgear?

Well there are some inherent problems with making it the way you suggest, the first being that masks move with the head, not the head and shoulders, so doing the shoulder portion would really not look very good. Also without some modifications you'd probably have clipping on some models, especially the female ones with the ponytails and such.

True, but I can't see how else it could work, unless it was just attached to the robes at the top...

 

re: ponytails, yeah, that's a problem, but there's not much that can be done about that I suppose...

You will have to separate them, one part to the shoulder that you should add in the robe model, and the one in the head to make a mask/helmet item.

Mmm...Maybe if the part near the neck weren't quite so high it could be done as a single model?
