Indy games

There are only two true Indy Adventure Games, Fate of Atlantis and The Last Crusade (based on the movie). Fate of Atlantis has an interface similar to LCR, while Last Crusade has the exact same interface as the original interface of SMI (the first one with no pictures and only words, not the revamped LCR-like picture interface). Fate of Atlantis has a fairly good story and 3 options of what style you want to play in so there is a lot of replay value. I highly recommend it. There is some humor, but it doesn't compare to the MI series. The Last Crusade follows the story of the movie, so some of the puzzles will be easy to solve. However, the game adds a lot and throughly expands on the movie. There are a lot of added scenes. I also highly recommend it. I think I put it pretty high on my list of all time adventures. I remember (it was about 11 years ago that I played it) there was a lot of maze solving, like in the zeppelin and under Venice. There is some fighting involved too (the same applies for Fate) and makes the game more interesting, but mainly the game is standard adventure. As for humor, it has the about the same amount found in the movie, maybe a little more. Play both! I don't know where you can download them, but I know you can easily order both from LEC. I don't know if you want to download the Last Crusade because it has a code system in order to start the game, like SMI or LCR.

By the way, don't bother with the Last Crusade Action version (the one I talked about above says graphic adventure on the box) or the Infernal Machine. The Infernal Machine is just a tomb raider clone and if you can find the action version of Last Crusade (I heavily doubt it) it is pretty frusterating and it is just your run of the mill platformer.

I hope this helps!

I think you can easily buy Fate of Atlantis, I think enough copies are lying around still. However, the Last Crusade is another matter. If you can find it by itself, you are very lucky. You can buy it in the LEC Classic Adventures pack. It includes the Last Crusade, SMI, Loom, Maniac Mansion and Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbendes. So if you just wanted the Last Crusade, you are still geting a bunch of other quality games. It costs about $20 and is availabe at the LucasArts website.

I've never heard of it. Must be a British thing. Man, it's hard to be an American and suddenly be in the minority. Maybe if I start talking like a British person I will know more about the Indy Games...bullocks.

  • 2 weeks later...

I recommend Fate of Atlantis; it's a good game with quite good storyline, but it feels like an adventure game made for newbies on the genre.

It's quite easy. Yes, you'll complete it quickly, but it's an experience not to be missed.

It's short. Yes, shorter than CMI, but it's still an experience.

I haven't played Last Crusade Adventure -game and maybe I will for the good word going around here. Thanks.
