Sithman1138 Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I have a Nvidia 6200 Over Clocked, 2.4 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, uh....Yeah. My system is okay but I plan on getting a new video card. What would you suggest as one that is the best but is cheaper. Between the 7950 GTX and the Raedon equivilant. What would you suggest?
darthcarth Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 The nvidia 7950 gtx the dual gpu has no match its 600 dollars but i dont think any video game out today could make it lag.
Sithman1138 Posted November 5, 2006 Author Posted November 5, 2006 I was thinking about that. But isn't the ATI equivilant cheaper?
Ra2er Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I use ATI myself. The best ATI card out at the moment is the X1950 XTX, which is the variant of the X1950 (Obviously lol). EDIT: Just checked price from ATI's store. Their price for the X1950 XTX is $499. That's with 512mb memory. Looks nice. p.s. this is a PCI Express gfx card.
Sithman1138 Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 Huh, so they cost the same. Do you know which is better?
FunSolo Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 theres no need for dualcore gpu cards atm. plus with windows vistas release next year and upcoming directx10 cards it would be dumb to buy a highend card right now.
Sithman1138 Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 When do you think the directx 10 will start to appear on cards?
FunSolo Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 i expect them mid next year with the next big gfx-card generations at the conventions, that they will support it. id wait for a real big investment on hardware till that day ^^. but i guess since then some ppl will already run around with quadcore type computers lol *hinting at the direction of the presentationvideo of alan wake*
Sithman1138 Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 I would wait but my card is lacking. It's not even a 512. I mean, at the moment, how long do you think the 7950 GTX would last until it would be required to upgrade?
whiteflash Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 are u people blind? gefore 8800 is a DX10 card and has been RELEASED!!!! it is the greatest g-card on the market! (and the most expensive )
FunSolo Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 yea, but i wouldnt buy it, cause, simply the fact its _that new_ that theres no real driver support for it. i read in a couple of gamerelated forums that those who bought one not even got a real boost at fps cause of that. PS: and at the guys question.. if u ask me, buy a 7800gt(/x) at ebay, old, cheaper, but good enough for todays games. and buy a "real one" next year.
Sithman1138 Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 I'm gonna end up needing to get a new system all together because apparently I don't have a PCI Express x16 slot on my Motherboard. So I'm getting a gateway with integrated 6100 graphics. It has a core duo and 2 GB or RAM. I still plan on getting a new card. BTW, the 7950 GX2 comes in a whopping 700....That's the one I WANT. But ya never know. Maybe Santa will bring me a new card.
darthcarth Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 I would go with the new dx 10 cards but i would wait they will drop in price in a few months to a understandable point why pay 500 when u wcuold wait a few months and get it for less.
